I think the real difference in all seriousness is explained as such.

None of the opponents that Louis achieved his credentials against would have any relevance today. They would not even be professional boxer (as they were).

You could argue all day that IF they came up today they would be but that's NOT how they were.

Compared to today they were, every single one of them, absolute bums.

Not to take anything away from them. Back then they WERE the goods, and still are in a historical sense.

But you can't compare such crude rudimentary skills, athletics and puny sizes overall to what we have today.

Well they wouldn't compete in the HW division at least. Joe Louis' best win in Walcott, I mean Walcott was a cruiserweight by todays standards.

      That is just a fact.

And wladimirs best win is Chris Byrd a former light welterweight.

And that is also just a fact.

Are you guys trying to tell me, that if you substitute Walcott with Vladimir in this video, Louis stops him too? I just don't see it. Walcott even floors Louis in the beginning of the vid as we can see.

I can't think of any HW boxer who would have been hurt by that Walcott punch. The closest thing would be Cunningham and Fury but Cunningham is a world removed from Walcott in everything and Fury was running toward him unguarded. And to even get hit with a telegraphed punch like that in the first place? What boxers who is anything sort of slick these days ever gets hit by shots like that?

And look how bad the skills are. Slow. Plodding. Stationary. Weak. Sloppy. Walcott is doing his best Chris Byrd impression but it really isn't the same is it now.

This^ is compelling video evidence that says more than the words of old time nut bags ever could!

Walcott fought like a dumbass, btw. Standing in front of him with his hands down.

Byrd is among the smallest opponents Wladimir has ever faced and was stylistically a lamb to the slaughter, it was physically impossible for him to ever win.

How is that Wlad's best opponent? He was a good opponent and win, Byrd was highly rated. But he was in no way dangerous or a threat to Wladimir whatsoever.

And as we all know, Chris Byrd fought Wladimir at 215lbs.. A real HW by any measure and about 10lbs bigger than Joe Louis.

And finally, look at the styles... Louis was a punch bag, relying mainly on his power advantage over his opponents (which only works if you are bigger and more athletic than your competition). Byrd was a master defensive fighter who rarely ever got hit and could steal rounds.

                  Epic fail!

He wasn't the smallest and by no means was he one of the worst despite your thoughts about weight and significance.

There's no question that Byrd is one of Wlad's best wins. Also, so is Haye another guy who's not a natural heavy and was a 178 pounder in the unpaid ranks when Wlad was a 245 pound heavyweight. Chambers is also just a lazy heavyweight.

Hell, Brewster could easily shed 25 lbs if he actually decided to give a shyt and not let his diet consist of burgers and fries.

Anyways, I don't really know why I'm getting drawn into this mess as you and I both know you've never watched a full joe louis fight. You're boxrec fan and that's another fact.
