That Ring writer's Top 20 has obviously rustled some jimmies. I thought everyone would remember Floyd's a coward?

The 20 historians and journalists that voted had floyd ahead of Roy, bhop and manny. So it's pretty clear who the best of this generation is.

Well its clear to people outside of manny fans and the anti floyd set.

Oscar's last good win was in 2002. De la Hoya was just a shell of himself in 2007 when "TBE" fought him.

Change the question to Floyd's first weight class, Jr Lightweight, and then the lists get's a lot smaller. Of who I'd pick to beat him.
Floyd at 130 was dominant and something special. After the Castillo fights , I feel that Floyd became way too defensive and at times very boring.

so basically his 1st post is a thread about how floyd would lose to these 10 guys. I sure he wouldve did that for a ton of other fighters, right? Floyd beat 2 of those guys and he acts like it was nothing because they were old and he actually had Oscar winning. Somehow I doubt he would diminish Pac's wins much over the 2 and Im sure if someone beat Floyd right now, he wouldnt use Floyd's age as an excuse. Its a bash thread and u know it

even though he just decapitated Mayorga the fight before when everyone thought ricardo was the toughest sob in boxing and had a granite chin. He had also fought at MW while Floyd had never been above ww and would only weigh between 146-148non fighht night.

So start naming them then. Go ahead, name 5 of the best fighters of our generation. Also with your list, tell me if they are going into HOF or considered ATG's.

He definitely changed his style when he got to 147. I suppose he had to though. I don't think his style at 130 would translate against bigger guys especially as he couldn't hurt them.

You took the words right out of my mouth. The threadstarter and all the other hillbillies who make threads like this comparing Mayweather to the great WW of the past always compare the Mayweather of today, at age 37 to the great welterweights in their prime At age 37, Sugar Ray Leonard was retired. He lost a fight to Terry Norris at age 31 and did not fight again until 39, when he suffered a KO loss to Hector Camacho. At age 37 Duran was losing to journeymen at middleweight, Tommy Hearns was fighting journeymen at cruiserweight, and Ray Robinson suffered 15 of his 19 losses at the age of 37 and beyond.

If anybody wants to compare Floyd to the greats of yesteryear, they should compare the greats at 130 to Floyd when they were both in their primes. Comparing 37 year-old Floyd Mayweather in his fourth weight class to 25 year old Sugar Ray Leonard in his first weight class is ridiculous.

Stop that nonsense about Floyd being small. Floyd grew into a BIG welterweight.

That's why he couldn't make the catch weight for the much smaller JMM.

Duran started at bantamweight, and grew into lightweight.

Floyd started at junior lightweight, and grew into a welterweight.
