Ten Welterweights who would topple Mayweather

Those are all great fighters and Mayweather is also a great fighter so it's hard to know for sure how Mayeather in his prime would do against them in their prime. I agree that Hearns, Robinson and Trinidad would beat him and I think the great fighter from Cuba, Jose Napoles would also beat him. I think Leonard and Mosley would be even money fights with Mayweather that could go either way. I think Mayweather would find a way to beat Benitez, Duran, Whitaker, Armstong, and De La Hoya.Comment

Hearns and Oscar could beat Floyd because of their range and superb jab. Everyone else on that list is either 50/50 or I'd fancy Floyd going into the fight.Comment

Not true. Although Boxrec and tail of the tape list him as the same size as everyone else, we can clearly see that he is very small compared to his opponents. He walked down a Jumbo Giant Man in Canelo. Ghost looks about 5'11 with arms waay longer than Floyd's.
Ortiz seemed to be about the same height tho.
hmm 5'11 huh, maybe if you are blind. why is he the same height as 5'6 and a half berto? making things up is the only way for a floyd fan to exist. reality isn't kind to floyd. fantasy power!

Obviously you have never seen Herns fight or you would know his name is Hearns. If you had seen him fight at 147 you would have seen a jab and right hand with lightning speed and perfect accuracy. Hearns would have kept the fight in the ring center and no way in hell does Floyd negate the huge height and reach and huge power advantage on the outside and Hearns would keep him from coming inside with his piston jab and if Floyd got inside, Hearns is a better inside fighter with a powerful hook. If you think Floyd was stunned by Corley, Judah, and Mosley, you have seen nothing of what a prime Hearns could have done. Hearns style is all wrong for Floyd. Floyd gets knocked out before the 6th round. Hearns punches were not looping like most of the guys Floyd has fought at 147, they were straight as an arrow, deadly and fast as hell. Are you basing this on Floyd's bad fights? Like against Marcos when he is past his prime and 18lbs lighter, facing a guy 8 yrs younger? Or his fight with Oscar where he had a handfull of fights at ww, then jumped to jr mw and didnt even try to walk Oscar down or do anything special? Floyd has fought much better opponents than Marcos and Oscar.
I think prime Floyd is unbeatable. There will never be a fighter in history that can fight Floyd's cherries, and change their entire fighting style to dominate them each without being hissed.
I think the Floyd who faced JMM humiliates every fighter in history. The Floyd who walked down Canelo would beat the snot out of those fighters. If he can walk down 165lbs Canelo, then what will SRL's tall skinny azz do? Throw those fast combinations, land a few shots, then after 3 rounds Floyd knows him inside and out.
I think based off the SRL Duran fights, Floyd would get in SRL's head with ease. SRL would try to bully him because of Floyd's "lack" of power. Or he would try to outbox him like he did Duran in the rematch and thats a no no with Floyd. SRL is the same fighter as Floyd except he has power, combination punching. While Floyd's skillset makes him look like a bum.
Duran got outboxed by SRL easily. If he could do it, Floyd would make Duran look even worse.
Yea Herns is tall and has a jab, but Floyd has a better jab, speed, skills, versitily. I think Floyd's small size would cause trouble for Herns. Floyd is a force against bigger guys and Herns is kind of a dumb guy. I think it would look like a foolish giant, moving in slow motion fighting against an android sent to teach the world how to box.
SRR was a HORRIBLE fighter. In his era he had so much speed and power. But in this era a fighter like that would seem slow. He lost to Jake Lomatta. I can imagine Floyd making him pay for his mistakes, for those haymakers that he throws from his hips is a huge no no.
I think Pacman, stylistically would DESTROY Ray Rob. Ray Rob's footwork was horrible and he seems slow compared to modern fighters.
Pernell Whitaker could never walk down Canelo. He also got touched by all calibers of fighters. I dont think he can outbox Floyd or have the focus to.
Im not biased for past atg's and Im not going to pretend like they are unbeatable Gods. I think Pac and Floyd both destroy them all. I think Pac would be too small for Herns. But I think Herns would seem as if he were fighting an engenius infant tonado if he ever fkd around with Floyd.
Leonard was bigger, stronger, and faster and he, Duran, Hearns, Cuevas, Benitez, EACH fought multiple greats, Floyd has not. Leonard didn't outbox the Duran from 1980 Montreal. That Duran was a menace that would have raked Floyd through hell and he still gave Leonard a tough fight in the second fight. Even Cuevas who had 11 defenses, 10 by KO would have made the punches Mosley hurt Floyd with seem pitty-pat. IF Floyd didn't get caught with one of those brutal hooks by Cuevas, he may have won by outboxing Cuevas but Floyd has never fought anyone with Cuevas's power and brutality. There is a reason Cuevas broke jaws, collar bones, ribs, turnbuckles on speed bags, he had serious power.
Floyd has never even fought anyone as good as a prime Benitez. All these guys, UNLIKE Floyd, fought in THE BEST welterweight division in boxing history. For that reason and a number of other reasons, Floyd will always be in their shadow and rightfully so. He was not as good as most of them and has not fought anyone who compares to them, period!Last edited by richardt; 09-19-2014, 10:36 PM.Comment

No it's not, not to most people. Floyd is bigger than Griffith was.
For some reason Floyd fanboys (especially you) want make Floyd out to be smaller than he really is.
He refused to fight Hatton at 140. He couldn't even make the catchweight for Juan Manuel Marquez. He looked weight-drained for Maidana II and even said he was feeling "dry".
Floyd has had a reach advantage over nearly every one of his opponents. It was especially obvious against Marquez and Hatton. He even has longer arms than Canelo.
Floyd started at junior lightweight, and grew into a big welterweight, just like Duran started bantamweight, and grew into a full-sized lightweight.
Please, stop trying to make Floyd out to be smaller than he is. He's a big welterweight.Comment
