Canelo is not on Floyd or Pac or even Cotto's level yet as far as drawing power.
As such, he isnt on their level as far as calling shots go. They all get to pick their dates before he does.
The only way he fights on that date is if he is fighting one of the afore-mentioned gentlemen.

Canelo vs Cotto on Cinco De Mayo??? Mexico vs Puerto Rico?!?!?!.. Sorry Floyd fanboys but your hero wouldn't stand a chance unless he's fighting Manny Pacquiao.. I'm still waiting on the official release of the numbers from the first Maidana fight.

You guys gotta realize Mayweather-Khan and Canelo-Cotto both won't happen on that date. Only one fight will happen on that date. Even if Canelo-Cotto is at MSG on HBO PPV and Mayweather-Khan is at MGM on SHO PPV, they will never compete with each other. It's bad business. Only one fight will go on that date. We will see what happens, get your popcorn ready.

The only way Alvarez will be fighting on that weekend is if he is fighting some stiff on regular HBO an hour before the Mayweather fight starts.

Giving the people a break and making a 3rd fight in one year not PPV. Is a good PR move. Giving paying customers a little something free is always good business. That's ALL it is. Nothing more nothing less.
