Sad part about this ordeal is the fact that Rigo won't attempt to at least please the fans because he said it himself, he won't change his style up for anyone or anything. That mentality coupled with Caribe Promotions leeching off of every other promotional brand they do business with will give Rigo a hard time locking down anything in the foreseeable future.

If Jay Z's Roc Nation passed up on what boxingsceners consider the hottest commodity in the sport, that should ring a few alarms about what's going on with Rigo's poor managed career. Bob Arum ended up giving up on him as well, was it right? **** no, but he did attempt to hype up Guillermo, sadly his stye only appeals to the hardcore fans of the sport. Sure he has a high percentage ratio but those KO's come to him due to the skill gap of his opponents, not because Rigo made it a point to go out and get the KO. If it were up to him he would cruise to a UD, and sure that's the essence of the sport, "Hit and don't get hit" but the business side is also selling tickets, packing arenas, etc.. and for as long as Rigo isn't doing any of the audience pulling or putting on action packed/high intensity fights, this ******ed excuse will repeatedly comeback to haunt him.
    Good post
Not sure how much of an audience Leo or Mares(who I doubt will be fighting at 122 again) bring in unless Frampton comes across the pond which would mean taking a paycut anyway. Quigg would definitely bring in an audience and is for sure his biggest possible payday.

    • Rigo would make Frampton plenty of money and be a big fight for the division. This excuse would be weak if that fight is never made. But it's everyone's excuse nowadays, so I'm used to it.

Every time you hear this, you know it really means, "I want to be severely overpaid because I'll probably lose."

        Right?

Donaire fought him when there was literally no reason to. Rigo was just some 12 fight beltholder. People get angrier about Donaire not rematching Rigondeaux than they do about these other paper champs not fighting him even once.

All these other b*tches need to step up.

        • That's always the excuse for avoiding these boogeymen. Even Roach is saying Golovkin doesn't bring any money ffs...

I like Frampton but he's gotta take the Rigo test sooner or later man, fight Santa Cruz/Quigg then take on Rigo.

Mares already came out and said he'd be interested in coming down to 122 for a fight against Frampton. I think the mega domestic clash with Quigg should be done and over with and then have Carl shipped state side to fight Leo and Mares in order to catapult him into stardom. So far 3 major names have mentioned interest, which is great since Frampton is skilled enough to possibly beat them all and garner a massive buzz.

The bolded is beyond ******ed. I noticed that too. How the hell is Donaire a duck if he got beat soundly over 12 rounds? He already fought the man and lost to the point we have no further questions who is the better of the two, why would Rigo's fans get so mad if Donaire moved on with his career? It's down right ******. Never before have I seen the fans of a victorious fighter bash the foe's existence for moving on and not wanting a rematch to a one sided loss. It just doesn't compute, I still scratch my head over such ******ity.

You are the A-side, dumbass. Nobody cares who you are fighting in Belfast.
That's the point. Right now, no one would care that he was fighting literally one of the most talented boxers of all time.

Well first of all.....no, it would just be doing a Rubix cube and no one would care because they aren't impossible to solve. A mild round of applause is what you'd get.

And second of all, get to ***. You'd turn down a million to do a crossword? Can we get some people who aren't kids in this thread?

Didn't know that, showtime will have to put a good chunk of money down to get Frampton across. Looks like the Quigg fight won't happen till mid next year as Framptons gotta take care of his mandatory. Looks like Rigos sitting out till 2016.

                  • What are the chance of Rigo just going to 126? He's already got his big win at 122 in Donaire. Beating Frampton or LSC isn't going to top that.

But what can I say you always had a soft spot for Cuban fighters

You can try and make it about me all you want, but that doesnt change anything. I ran my shows for 12 years straight, so obviously selling tickets was not a problem for me.

But maybe you should ask the Miami guys why Cubans cant sell tickets. Ask Rivalta why even though he was doing some great shows, even tried the whole "Cuba vs. DR" angle, it still didnt sell, even with a sweet deal from Hard Rock.

Ask Ramiro Oritz why they couldnt sell tickets at Magic City, despite having a great team with great experience.

Ask the Rivera brothers why they dont feature alot of Cubans on their successful Puerto Rico cards?

Bottom line is that "technical" Cuban fighters are just not big at the box office. Why that would insult you I have no idea, but it is simply a FACT.
