  • Frampton is still recovering from his victory party hang-over and people are already accusing him of ducking Rigo? Unbelievable.
He's young and still at that stage of his career where he's getting better with every fight. His manager would be crazy to go after Rigo straight away, with other, better paid options available.
When Barry McGuigan says "Forget about Rigo" he's talking about Frampton's next couple of fights, not his whole freaking career.
Give the kid a chance to settle in as champion, carry on improving, and earn himself some money, then start thinking about Rigo. Like I said, he'd be crazy to do anything else.

    • The Business Era....this era will be remembered for fights that never happened because most of our fighters don't care about being great....they rather get paid....can't knock them for trying to get the chicken but that's the new excuse to duck...this era is for the birds!!

BHop is not from this era, that's one reason why he's killer hunting...no boogeyman is safe around the old head....Frampton don't wanna fight the best because there's no chicken in it.....smh....WOW

Face the facts, Rigo couldn't sell out the first 3 rows of a school bus, yet he will demand north of a half-million bucks, stink out the joint, and likely beat Frampton. On what planet does that make any sense for Team Frampton? Why take that fight? So that 7 or 8 guys on a message board will respect him? Not likely........
This. All the Rigo **** suckers on this forum/thread need to take note.

          • The business era..... Lol so what super bantamweights are good enough for Carlito Frampton since Rigo isn't??? Who brings in the big bucks for the great Frampton???

Rigo needs to sign with Frank Warren IMO. He'll showcase him on some UK cards and people will start to know who he is. Then Frampton-Rigo becomes a massive fight in the UK where both guys will get paid what they deserve.

Right now, they'd just be fighting for the sake of fighting and for **** money.
Ok so he would be fighting for his biggest payday - yet he would be fighting for "**** money"
Beating Rigondeaux would clearly raise his profile, you're living in denial if you think otherwise.

Leo, Quigg and possibly Mares would bring in their own audience, as opposed to Rigo. Sadly Rigo isn't a draw and until he manages to reel in fans, I see this excuse being used continuously until he retires. Sad part about this ordeal is the fact that Rigo won't attempt to at least please the fans because he said it himself, he won't change his style up for anyone or anything. That mentality coupled with Caribe Promotions leeching off of every other promotional brand they do business with will give Rigo a hard time locking down anything in the foreseeable future.

If Jay Z's Roc Nation passed up on what boxingsceners consider the hottest commodity in the sport, that should ring a few alarms about what's going on with Rigo's poor managed career. Bob Arum ended up giving up on him as well, was it right? **** no, but he did attempt to hype up Guillermo, sadly his stye only appeals to the hardcore fans of the sport. Sure he has a high percentage ratio but those KO's come to him due to the skill gap of his opponents, not because Rigo made it a point to go out and get the KO. If it were up to him he would cruise to a UD, and sure that's the essence of the sport, "Hit and don't get hit" but the business side is also selling tickets, packing arenas, etc.. and for as long as Rigo isn't doing any of the audience pulling or putting on action packed/high intensity fights, this ******ed excuse will repeatedly comeback to haunt him.

yep, if only he lacked punching power, he'd be just like Mayweather

As boxing fans it should matter, what's the point in following the sport anymore if the best aren't fighting the best.

True, Frampton is 27 yo - still a young fighter, by today's standards - but you have to take experience into account as well as just age. Looking at his last few fights you can see him getting better each time. The first fight with Kiko was on a knife edge till Frampton landed that big punch. This time, he was in control from the first minute and never looked like losing. He is approaching his peak, but not there yet, imo.
Look at this from Rigo's point of view. He is 34 yo, which would have been very old for a super-bantam back in the day, but not nowadays. Rigo is at his peak, and with few miles on the clock, he could stay there for a while yet.
He has never earned the kind of money his talent deserved, so maybe it would be better for him to give Frampton time to become a bigger name world-wide, not just in the UK, before fighting him.
If Frampton beats Quigg and Santa Cruz a unification fight between he and Rigo, with all the belts at stake would be a great pay day for both of them.
