He's got the heart and hand speed, I give him that.

Other than that, he's got nothing. If Broner fights Matthysse he's doomed
I disagree. I think Broner's stregnth is in-fighting and he gets caught the most at the end of guy's punches. And Danny showed that Lucas can be bullied on the inaide.

As for Broner's defense, he's not a great defensive fighter. But he's not a bad one either. I think he gets himself in trouble because he thinks he's better defensively than he is. But I think he's trying to adapt his style to the strengths he has, not the ones he wants.

As for he and Lucas, its an interesting fight. I favor Lucas because I think AB is a lil chinny. Watching him last night, Author Abraham came to mind. As a middleweight, he was bigger and stronger than everyone he faced and broke them down over the course of the fight. But when he moved up, that disappeared. The same type things are happening to AB north of lightweight.

There is no such thing as knockdown of the year unless it is a KO and it wasn't a KO.

I thought Broner's overall performance was better than some of his past performances. He threw some fast combinations, moved a little more, was a little faster, and more focused.

he also fought a lesser fighter, and was closer to lightweight than welterweight.

broner does some things well, but he'll never come close to being a great fighter. he gets hit, doesn't have bonafide power, and his footwork isn't very good. it takes a certain kind of fighter to make him look good.

            what he does well:
he's got a good chin, fast hands, and punches accurately and with good offensive technique.

I would probably blame the commentators.

Ever go back and watch old fights and hearing the "dull" announcers who just call the fight as they see it. In that old school monotone voice? Imagine if it was still that.

These guys try to make any moment they can seem as epic as "DOWN GOES FRAZIER, DOWN GOES FRAZIER, DOWN GOES FRAZIER."

(R.I.P. and god bless Smokin' Joe. Did you know the city of Philly is actually making a statue for him now?)

Way too many posts for a mediocre boxer.

I will say that his fights are getting more interesting as he moves up in weight and class of opponent as his talents, as they are now, diminish accordingly. His opponents reach him very easily, especially overhand rights, and when he is on the ropes. He does fight OK on the inside...surprisingly, his lack of head movement is a negative on the outside where he should be doing better than he is.

He is the new Jermaine Taylor....great early potential, devolves into a punching bag.

Really don't understand the hate for Broner nowadays. Is he annoying? Yes. But he's already been beaten. So the desire to see him lose should have faded. He puts on exciting fights. Plus, he's a good fighter that WANTS to be great. And more importantly, WANTS to fight the top guys to prove his greatness, or lack thereof. If he were humble and not African-American, he would be beloved. Yep, I took it there.

People don't like him because he THINKS he's already great. That sums up THE PROBLEM.

                      Pun intended.
