Probably yes cuz mayweather didnt even let him use approved gloves. My point is that we're making a big deal about Floyd's mental games, but not how Maidana tried to get some fugazi gloves past the commission, but failed. I do agree that Floyd then proceeded to pull a sucker move, but it seems people ignore Maidana's first move. Had Maidana not try to pull the fast one, would any of this be news today?
Funny how Glass chin amir khan had no problems with what gloves maidana wears.Comment

stop trying to make a cross sport analogy. its ******ed and doesn't hold up because those sports are games or competitions put on by a league or entity. fighters are independent contractors and fights are arranged by contract and take into consideration things like availability of an arena, etc etc.Had Mayweather not played commission & forced gloves on Maidana, would any of this been news today?
If an unfair practice is being repeated from those times...does that make it fair/alright for current fighters to do the same?
If Usain Bolt forced all of his opponents to start the race 2 seconds after he crosses the start line would that be fair? I'm sure Floyd fans think it would be fair since Usain is A side & has worked his azz off to reach the pinnacle.
The sport needs regulations, there are bodies in the sport but none of them are regulating anything.
you are right, boxing needs to be regulated better. if part of the regulation was getting rid of a side advantage, that wouldn't be bad.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 09-03-2014, 02:38 PM.Comment

I've always said Floyd would have came up with something else if PAC had agreed to the drug testing. And could have very well been the gloves. Manny uses Reyes gloves. Does anybody think Floyd would have cried about Pacquiao using those gloves??? I do. LolComment

All of your excuses are ******ed because we've been talking about a level playing field here. It's ******ed that you don't see that boxing should be a sport with a governing body that has the same rules/regulations for every athlete. There is no other sport where the A side gets to dictate terms over the B side(s) & that shouldn't happen in boxing either. Rules/regulations should apply to every one all the same.Comment

Go home dig S H I T, I mean, Big Dunn, you are drunk!!!ok. obviously he didn't mean it because he signed for the rematch and can't wear what he wants.
that's the thing-you guys act like what happens is 2 teams play a scheduled game like its an NBA/NFL season.
The team of the top draw draws up a contract. That contract is going to be heavily weighted to the side of the top draw. If the top draw is a big puncher-usually means smaller ring and punchers gloves. top draw is a mover like Floyd-wider ring, non punchers gloves.
I may think dirk is a complete fa&&ot but his thread the other day showed all of Floyd's opponents wearing the gloves. NONE OF YOU, said one word about it then (obviously it didn't go down like it did here).
I have never cared about these things. I accept it comes with the territory. Frankly, I always have more respect for the fighters that win under these conditions.Comment

Maidana isn't in a position to turn a floyd fight down obviously. Especially over something like glove choice.Comment
