Knock it off. Maidana has nothing to do with this thread. Stop trying to make this into a my-favorite-fighter-has-a-bigger-dick-than your-favorite-fighter thing.

Besides, Maidana is better than Kovalev.

Maidana has overcome adversity multiple times; Kovalev has not.

Maidana has multiple wins against top fighters in his weight class. Kovalev does not.

Maidana has an effective defense that is tried and true against the top fighters in his weight class. Kovalev gets tagged, cut, and marked up. Chino has never left a fight badly lumped up.

Maidana can go twelve rounds like nothing. Kovalev has not.

Maidana is a crafty technician brawler with effective head movement. Kovalev is a puncher who keeps his head in the same place.
Kovalev just burst onto the scene last year. Everything you're saying is fine and dandy, all I'm saying is Kovalev will prove what he can do in the ring.

Two years from now when he's still undefeated and cleaned out his division..... I hope you're still not asking the same questions!

He's the real deal, IMO. He'll prove it. Just wait.

Kovalev is the purest form of an offensive machine in the sport. He might be the hardest puncher p4p in the entire sport. He throws fluidly in combination. He cuts off the ring. He mixes to the head and body. He can effectively throw pretty much every punch.

His defense isn't great, but his offense is good enough to beat all but the very best fighters. We'll see if Hopkins still counts among that best.

He's going to get hyped to high heaven now that he's fighting Quillin. Hope people aren't too surprised if he loses.

What he's done thus far has already displayed tremendous boxing skill. No need to go further for a couple of posters who are clearly clueless about the sport
            Not at all...

He isn't so fluid in the ring. Everything he does seems not to come naturally. His timing is not impeccable. He doesn't know how to use footwork and how to work behind a stiff jab to get the best angles to land his power punches often times in combination. And that power, in my opinion, he isn't pound for pound the hardest puncher in the sport at the moment.

There's absolutely NO video of that fight..... and of course the only thing posted after I asked for that video is a gif of Kovalev getting KO'd in the amateurs by a Amateur World Championships Gold Medalist

I hype Kovalev a lot on here, but that's because I believe he is the real deal. I've been doing it since before he even fought Campillo. Everything continues to fall into place, and some posters are willing to give him credit after Hopkins. We know some won't, and that's okay. But the (Fighter A beats Fighter B [10] years ago) comments are absolutely silly.......

Yeah, I picked him to steam through Campillo... Kovalev is obviously quite good with a somewhat unorthodox 2-handed attack that is good enough to drill most fighters around his weight. Some people would rather boxers pose or throw 10 punches a round to eliminate any chance of getting hit with a punch and call it sweet science. It's harder to come forward, mounting an offense and avoid getting hit than the other way around.

                  No.

The only real KO Kovalev has is against that UK dude... and he didn't even knock him out unconscious. Just because he knocks unconscious bums doesn't mean anything. The real KO's are the ones against good fighters.

If Kovalev isn't a hard puncher then you must respect his boxing ability and accuracy then. His accuracy is always on point, and he simply throws stiff shots instead of loading up with hail mary punches like many of the showy punchers in the sport who tend to have a hard time putting away opponents due to less accuracy.

I thought I would quote this again..... The 39 fight veteran Maidana has nearly lost every time he's stepped up.

Who are these top fighters you speak of? Maidana's best wins are Victor Ortiz, Adrien Broner and Petr Petrov..... that's in 39 fights.

Meanwhile, Kovalev beat the true unified champion of his division in his 19th fight.

Kovalev has 25 fights, and has taken a top 5 LHWs title in his backyard, beat a unified champ in his 19th fight, been calling out the lineal champ for more then 365 days, and finally gets a big fight with Hopkins. If he beats Hop, he will continue to chase the top LHW's down, all while trying to preserve his 0.

Yet to you, Kovalev is just a puncher who doesn't move his head, who has no boxing skills.... because he hasn't boxed off his back foot yet (because that's the only way to display boxing skill)

if you can't see how Kovalev's crippling power on top of his 100 punch per round output of deadly combinations with laser accuracy- perfect range and distance and a brickwall of a jab. combined with his fantastic footwork and power in both hands.... is a problem for anybody. Then there's not much else I can tell you

(I don't hate Chino. I'm just protecting my hero)
