What makes Kovalev special?

I know. He can. But I didn't even take it that far.
What he's done thus far has already displayed tremendous boxing skill. No need to go further for a couple of posters who are clearly clueless about the sportComment

kovalev has genuine power, throws a good amount of punches, and he throws in combination. he guages distance well. he always seems like he's got a harder shot in the holster.
he's a very good fighter. i'm not breaking out the annointing oil yet, but he clearly has a lot going for him. if you cannot see that, it's your fault.Comment

Kovalev is great to watch. He fights like a light-heavyweight version of 122lb Pacquiao. He's good enough to be a top contender and he was shamefully ducked by the division's champion. Beyond that, who knows. Time will tell.Comment

You don't know anything. He doesn't have to box back wards. But moving backwards is not the only way to display "boxing skills"
This is a man with over 300 amateur wins, you don't win that many high level amateur fights with no boxing skills. Furthermore, timing, range and distance, footwork and quality/variety of punches are all aspects of "boxing skills"
OH and this is coming from the guy with a mindless brawler in his avi and sig? Lmao. Lemme guess... Maidana CAN box backwards, eh? Or he can't... But he moves forward so well that he's good, eh?
Neexxtttt
Maidana does box backwards. Chino knows how to set up deadly KO shots as he's moving backwards, i.e. 2nd Broner knockdown, touching Mayweather in the center of the ring, the Soto Karass fight.Comment
