porter only started holding late in the fight when he was tired. brook came out in round 1 clinching every time porter was close. the rabbit punches were because brook was holding him nonstop. that's what happens. he could have just stood there and let himself be clinched. that would have won him in the fight...

By The Looks Of Porter's Face, It Looks Like Brook Didn't Hold Enough!!!

I thought there was a lot of grappling , tying up, and I wondered how Porter destroyed Paulie Mags got knocked so cold, because it appeared Porter has a style that just rushes in, and couldn't see how he could have gotten punches off against Mags. But I see there was a lot if tying up with Brook, probably by design. But when you prepare to fight, you game plan how you're fighting this guy's style. Ray Leonard was brilliant in how he prepared for Hagler. Despite who you thought won that fight, Leonard recognized how everyone else fought Hagler, got beat up, and lost. They all fought HAGLER'S style. Leonard chose not to fight Hagler's style, but fight his own and it frustrated Marvin all night. Brook did the same thing with Porter. He fough his fight, not Porter's fight. And it frustrated Porter & Co. in the end. That's Boxing. You think it frustrates Everyone when Floyd gets on his bike and stays away all night, jabbing and back tracking? You have to be smart enough during the course of a fight, to change or adapt. Porter fought one style all night. I wanted Porter to win, but you have to adjust. I understand frustration. At the end of the day you ask yourself as a fighter, do I want to win this fight, or is it more important to stand and exchange?

You may tell them again and again -- no result... Those who do not properly understand the sport will not suddenly begin to understand it.

So what do you think should have been done?

Got to say that I wanted Brook to win and am glad he won but he DID hold excessively not too over the top in some cases but he initiated most, I know he did what he had to do to nullify Porter hyperactive aggressive rush but I didn't like some of the holding.

How many brook and khan fights have you seen exactly? A strategy they employ for one fight does not reflect their entire career.

He did hold too much, but Porter was very much responsible for that. The way he fought was causing both guys to clinch a lot.

Yes, we know. Ward holds so he can hit. You got it right. The difference with Porter is, he was missing on his head butts and then was so out of position he had nowhere to go with his punches. But continued to throw for the back of the head. Dirty fighter. There are more than 5 welterweights that would beat him easily. Maybe he'll try to fight Paulie again.
At least someone with no pop. Maybe Salka will go to 147 for a payday.

Everyone knows Porter is a clean fighter. Also, his face was totally messed up because of all the clinching.
