I know the money would suck. But the win would be significant and he would make it up down the road. Kovavlev did this with cleverly and he got a nice 3 fight HBO deal.

I don't worry about him cutting it there. He is a 160lb fighter who has 3 fights at 168 IMO-Chavez, Ward and Froch, froch to get him in the door, ward for supremacy, chavez for the dough.

Other than that his career is at 160 like Hagler.
I'm not as certain of him at 168, he takes a lot of punches coming forward.

Ward's actually not a bad opponent since he's not a big puncher but he's the best and I'm not sure it's wise jumping up to fight the best straight away.

At 168, I'd like to see Golovkin against a Bika, Periban etc. Someone durable that will give him rounds. If he can't impress against them he probably doesn't belong at the weight.

I see his move at 168 out of necessity for fights, not because he can't make weight. I don't see him campaigning at 168. if he did, I agree with the fights you suggest.

I can actually see him alternating between weight classes for those big fights, because I don't see in the short term how a quillin/cotto/canelo fight-the 3 he should be getting-materialize.

Besides-do we really need another highly skilled fighter fighting weak fights? I like skills more than just KO's so I think its a shame that ward, jmm, rigo and now GGG can't get the fights that will allow them to display those skills.

But I read today that Jacobs-Chudinov is in discussions.
Really? Do you have a link by any chance?

This is a fight I would like to see next for Jacobs and it's very winnable. I think he beats Chudinov.

            I'm thinking the options are
            1. #1-Kessler - if they can agree on the money, it would a great setup for the winner to then face Froch in February
            2. #2-Rubio - If Cotto fights Lee at MW, then fights Alvarez next May, no way Rubio will wait for that. His mando was due and he had to step aside for Martinez-Cotto. If Cotto gets stripped, this could be a unification bout for GGG
            3. 3-Mora - Could be a good PR move. Mora's an American fighter who many casual fans still remember well from the tv show. In addition Mora's pretty outspoken like Curtis Stevens and would help build anticipation for the fight (which is something they didn't have with Geal or Macklin).

Jacobs-Chudinov would fit nicely on the same card as Quillin-Korobov in Brooklyn. Good build up fight for the winners. Jacobs could go 0-3 against the Russians.

yeah, what a novel concept. put 2 fights from same division on same card and the winners fight.

It doesn't happen as often as it should. So, yeah.
