Showtime reach out to artist Dan Cassarro for Mayhem artwork. Look at his response.

Because it's a pretty big deal that a major network like Showtime, owned by CBS, is reaching out to artists and asking them to do work for the network for ****ing free, man.

Chances are they started soliciting pros because they realized the type of amateurs that would go for this are submitting shoddy work. Not only that, the pool of amateur talent is severely dwindled down because amateur graphic designers that also happen to big enough boxing fans to accept payment in boxing fights is small.

In essence, what Showtime is doing is bartering. They're exchanging a good or service for another good or service. But there's a reason why barter economies don't exist and and we live in a fiat monetary system with a medium of exchange (the mighty dollar). Imagine you're a computer programmer, and you need a lawyer after you got in a car accident. The equivalent of what Showtime is doing is you opening up the yellow pages and calling every lawyer in town hoping that one of them will accept your computer programming skills for payment. You shouldn't be surprised if many of them told you to **** off. Go ahead and put an ad on craiglist for this weird trade your'e trying to pull off. It's possible that there are some lawyers that do need a computer programmer, but good luck with that, bro.

I'm pretty sure another artist is happy to take his place.

Work for free for an event that's going to bring in hundreds of millions in revenue? Yeah I'm sure a plane ticket to LV is more than enough.

I think Dan did a great thing here.

                    1. There is no assurance that he will win or most likely win coz they are probably emailing a whole bunch of good artists also.

                    2. By replying the way he did, he just made free advertising on himself and his art. People are going to want to research this guy, who he is and his work.

So a big corporation is asking a professional artist to work for free??? What the heck.

This guy most likely survives off of selling his art and creative services and to have a big company like CBS/Showtime ask him to make art for free is shameful.
