Comments Thread For: Diego Chaves is Close To Signing Pact With Top Rank

Shortly after his disqualification loss to Brandon Rios in Saturday night in Las Vegas, rugged Argentine slugger Diego Chaves advised BoxingScene.com that his team was negotiating a promotional pact with Top Rank. Chaves career is guided by Osvaldo Ribero and his children Sebastian and Natalia.

Chaves also said that he deserves either a rematch with Rios or another big fight on American soil.

    Hopefully it's Chaves-Alvarado next.

Good for Chaves, I had him winning vs Rios. Let's see him vs Ruslan if Rios fights Alvarado. If Rios fights Ruslan, gimme Chaves Alvarado. Tim isn't fighting any of these guys, idk what he's gonna do himself.

Chaves-Khabib? Or maybe they can give him Novikov after that pathetic excuse for judging

He needs to give Khabib a fight if he's still with Top Rank. His career was ruined on that PAC undercard. I thought he beat Vargas

I was thinking the same thing.

This guy's literally never beaten anyone and he's been labelled the "Monster Puncher" who's apparently a top fighter.

IF this is the best Garcia can do with Rios At this point of his career. Then he's not that good of a trainer as people think he is. He just has big names under him. Sort of like Roach has big names under his wing also. But I do believe Roach is just a bit better than Garcia.

I though Rios was losing the fight. I also watched Mayweather vs. Maidana today. And of course by the 4th round I was falling asleep. (not talking smack.. but I ALWAYS fall asleep to a Mayweather bout).

Anyhow I don't see why people are so hyped about Maidana vs. Mayweather II. I don't see Robert Garcia doing any better in training his fighters. I don't see him applying anything he might have learned in the first fight with Mayweather.

In the 4 rounds I saw of the first fight today.. I REALLY didn't see Maidana hit Mayweather with ANY clean punches as I thought when I first saw the fight live. I think in 4 rounds he probably hit mayweather with 4 or 5 clean punches. the rest were blocked, missed, or just hit arms and gloves of Mayweather's.

There is no way this next fight is going to be better for Maidana at ALL. It might be for Mayweather. But who knows. Still not worth watching it live in my opinion.

The only difference I see in the next fight is Maidana getting really tired earlier this time around, because since he lost. The pressure is on him to show otherwise.

All that fight showed, is that Rios is a c level fighter.
