If it means less recycled fights from top rank, why not

The clinching did prevent the match from being the FOTY candidate everybody was anticipating but that doesn't mean the match was bad. I still want to see Diego Chaves again. In the end, he's proven that he's not a bum and that's enough to see him on TV more. Either a rematch with Rios or a match with Alvarado.

So you don't want to go off of one performance to say he's good but you do want to go off of one performance to say he's bad? That's not a fair way to view it.

Chaves's next fight will likely tell us more about his power. I will say I don't think he's as courageous as Maidana and Matthysse.
They've both shown their power at the highest level & you can see/hear. He has more of an explosive power where the other two have boulders for fists. lucas don't even need to be set or in position, that guy has freaky power.

Another thing is he doesn't carry his power well, he is dangerous for all of 2-3 rounds then fades & losses a lot of snap. Matthysse and Maidana are dangerous for every second, they carry their power from 1-12. Even when tired, they still carry power.

He has power though and because hes Argentinian I think that is why the comparisons are made. He is a good puncher but I am seeing nothing to suggest he has one punch power, carries his power or anything like that.
Alvarado hurt Rios more than he did.

I dunno man, there was one of the middle rounds where he was beating the face of Rios jerking his head from side to side and staggered him at one point (although he wasn't hurt).

I agree in that Chaves fades, that's two fights on the bounce now on US soil where he's looked gassy around 9th-10th round. I don't think he's a particularly versatile fighter at all, struggles with movement and struggles on the inside. But, I do think he has power and punch resistance.

Matthysse's power comes unstuck against bigger men. He had to wear down Molina and obviously wasn't able to wear down Garcia who also weighs in heavy. He murders guys his own size.
