Sucks, this means he won't fight at 154 any time soon unless cotto whoops canelo. I guess he deserves a pass like this to considering how much he's accomplished. You don't have to be more than 147 to fight at 154. Boxers must not exceed the upper limit of a weight class, but they are allowed to fall below the lower limit. You can come in at 140 for a light middleweight fight if you like. It's different in the amateurs.

So they can't exceed 147 but the 154 title is on the line...such B.S.

Any weight over 147 and Its no longer welterweight. They both have to come in at or under 147 in order for both belts to be on the line, just like the Sugar Ray Leonard 168/175 farce (they both had to come in in higher than 168).

Maidana is a lot better than Lalonde.

When Leonard fought for two titles in two separate weights in one night, it was a disgrace to boxing, blatant favouritsm, and for them to use that fight as a precedent for it happening again is shocking. Pathetic by the WBC, and Mayweather for that matter. You shouldn't be allowed to hold the belts hostage like this. Pick a division already.

Idk about that, 148 should be where the weigh at for this fight...im not even sure maidana would want to pay extra fees...so this might not go through

Both fighters have to pay...an example goes back to when floyd didnt want to pay sanctioning fees for the mosely fight.. mosely lost and still kept the wba.
