There are worse fights than Pac-Algieri being made. Algieri just beat Provo, is undefeated, has a title and just beat Ruslan. A month ago people were talking about Ruslan-Mayweather and Pacquiao can't fight the guy that beat Ruslan?

Algieri is getting this fight cause Arum does not care if the PPV bombs...

All of Pac's fights in Macua are guaranteed by the big casinos and business in the area who wants to establish Macua as a Vegas type of ******** destination.

PAC gets another easy pay day along with Arum.

PAC will be back in Vegas with a higher profile opponent where his purse will be dependent on PPV.....

Furthermore...the style match up will be boring

Marquez become less of a boxer puncher over time and more of a stationary counterpuncher who pivots well and retaliates immediately

        Their Styles mesh

Pacquaio's most boring fights are against boxers...Manny is great at cutting off the ring...He can work angles well when his opponent is coming forward but when he has to he looks uncomfortable and out of sorts

Old shot Mosley used lateral movement, was on ***** street and he couldnt cut off the ring enough to finish the job.

Erik Morales outboxed him in the first fight

ALgieri has no power and will be on the move all night, it may be a difficult style match up but their are also more proven fighters with his style and skill set

We will be watching Manny chasing a no name all night...all risk no reward

[QUOTE=Dirk Diggler UK;14787715]Yeah Khan would be a more difficult opponent than Maidana but he didn't really deserve the fight. Neither did Maidana if you ask me.

Algieri didn't look overly spectacular against Ruslan. I thought he won quite clearly but he was dropped twice and busted up. I think the fact that he was the underdog made it look better.

I just don't think one decent win should catapult you into a Pacquiao fight.

If a loss (or a ****ty performance) catapults a boxer into a Pac fight, why not a win?

Theres nothing wrong with Algieri. Pac critics are only using it as an excuse so that if Pac looks bad against him, they will use it as ammunition to say how bad Pac is cos he couldnt beat Algieri convincingly.

Algieri is coming off of a nice win so why cant Pac beat the man who beat the man? If Provodnikov v Pac was acceptable so should Algieri v Pac be. Or should Pac fight Algieris used goods Provodnikov.?

Pac is FOTD he can fight a complete bum if he wants to now.

Anyway this is not a mismatch, its just not PPV worthy, but the style match up is great, its a much more difficult fight than Salka vs. Garcia or Maidana Mayweather 2 that is for sure, Pac is actually taking on the more risky opponent than those guys.

Algieri is a legit threat to outbox Pac, given Pacs problem with long rangy guys and guys who can move a lot and keep distance.

Even Teddy Atlas and Paulie Maliggnagi the two biggest Pac haters have no problem with this fight, in fact Atlas only really hates the Salk vs Garcia fight.
180? isnt that alot for a 5"7 natural lightweight?

When's the last time your favorite fighter came to engage in exchanges? But yet he's headlining PPV cards right.

Honestly, Algieri has the same quality of win that got Maidana his fight against Floyd. If Floyd or Manny would have fought the winner of A hypothetical Broner/provodnikov fight, nobody would have a problem with it.
So Maidana beats Broner and this kid beats Provo. Same deal...can't hate on one without the other as well. Both average fighters. One has the chance to KO someone every time out, the other can outbox his opponent.

I initially thought the exact same thing, in fact I thought it was the worst Pac match up since Mosley but the more I think about it, the better this fight is. Yes there could have been better opponents but they were all either tired up or not viable business wise since there are problems with networks and promoters etc.

Algieiri is a tall guy and the extra weight will do him, he is 4 inches taller than Pacman, young and pretty quick, not to mention has a huge reach advantage. Pac is in for a tough night and it's a better style match up then a lot of the other crap we've been fed on PPV in recent years.
