Maidana beat Broner, Corley, Erik Morales, Victor Ortiz before Maywather did
Broner was a good win for him. Not many people were picking him.

Corley, with 15 or so losses? Morales was well beyond shot, and VO...well boxing really isn't his thing.

I understand that those are better than anything Algieri did sans Provodnikov. They were also 4-5 years ago at a different weight class. That isn't even my point.

What did Maidana do at 147 to earn a shot at the 147 king?

He had 1 good win against a top contender...same as Algieri.

They should each be fighting against other competition, mainly each other. Forget the realistic fights to be made crap because that isn't any of our fault.

I have no problem with the matchup, IF it was not on PPV. To me, PPV should be when BOTH fighters are STARS so that eliminates a lot of PPV's in my opinion.

This fight shouldn't be on PPV. That's the major gripe I have with it. Algieri is a good fighter. I don't think he's ready for Manny but options are very limited at Top Rank. His two best wins (Provodnikov and Emmanuel Taylor) are guys that stand right in front of their opponent and are easy targets to hit. Manny is a whole different animal. His foot speed/movement and hand speed are going to give Algieri major fits. Manny should be able to counter his jab as well. In a perfect world, Algieri would've continued to build his resume and gain experience before fighting Manny.

Another Flowmo deflecting with a ****** sibling rivalry jealous answer of why do he get a pass but not Floyd.

I don't know man Thruman, Porter, Khan are all in house and under Haymon so there is no excuse for Floyd not to fight any of those guys, Pac has limited options because Floyd, Haymon, and Richard they will never work with Arum.

The big question is why is Floyd not fighting Thurman, Porter, Khan all easy fights to make since they are under the same banner as him?

If Any of those fighters signed with Top Rank you better believe Arum is putting them in with Pac, look what Arum did he scooped up Bradley and put him in with Pac.

            Its a horrible fight.

            Just horrible.

Lets face it, Arum is putting Algieri in there with Pac for two reasons.

1st, the fight is in China and the house will be packed regardless of who Pac is facing. But the fight being in China also means that Arum/Pac do not have to deal with North American media calling them out on this mismatch. Specially after Arum called for boycott of mismatches. Odds open at 14-1. Try to selling that to the national media.

2nd, Arum has run out of in-house opponents. Arum is the guy who said there was no cold war. But he also said he refuses to work with Haymon. Which is it? Arum should be criticized for refusing to work with Haymon fighters. Theres about 5-7 fighters who deserve it more and would accept this fight before Algieri's name comes up.

Its an ok fight if you take out the fact that it's on PPV and that Pac only has a few fights left in his career.

Algieri is no worse then Ortiz or Guerrero.

All in all Top Rank is doing the cheap option to save on what will be poor PPV numbers, regardless of who he fights it will struggle to sell in America since a lot media won't travel to China. They must have some sweet deal with the casino there.

But like I said the bad part is that Pac's career is winding down and he doesn't need this sort of fight.

Im sick of people defending this fight , algeri is nobody , wow he beat provodnikov who really isnt that good, his best win was alvarado , if floyd signed to fight algeri pple would be calling cherry picker all this garbage and to boycott the fight , this is a waste of a fight for pac and if he doesn't wipe the floor with this kid he should just retire ! Pac should destroy this kid , should look like pac vs margarito over again !

You can't defend this fight. It wouldn't be bad if this was like a stay busy fight but fighters of the caliber of Pacquiao fight twice a year and one of those is being wasted on Chris who has ONE good win at 140 not even 147. Shit fight. Anyone who thinks he can do to Pacquiao what he did to Provo (who's pretty ******ed against boxers) is nuts.
