I don't agree with this statement, Mike Coppinger. It was exactly like what happened in the Mayweather-Ortiz fight, the opponent was sucker punched.

Was it legal? Of course. Was it the right thing to do? I don't think so. Just because you can freely do something means you should do it. If you're a club fighter fighting in ESPN this (sucker punching) may be acceptable, but when you're fighting at the highest levels of the sport, this is not.

No doubt Rigo has real talent. I hope this is the last time he sucker punches someone. He could have knocked out this guy without resorting to sucker punching. If he did that, most boxing fans would not have left with a sour taste in their mouths. Arum and HBO have simply echoed the idiocy of what has become of a huge percentage of today's "hardcore" followers of the sport. I won't call them hardcore fight fans because they're not. In the last five years or so, basically during the height of the Floyd-Manny nonsense, several casual fans became hardcore followers because they were caught up in that drama. We've seen viewership of guys like GGG and Kovalev reach near record highs. And these morons that deepthroat them don't have the boxing IQ to appreciate a guy like Rigo. Who on his worse day has more talent and skill in his pinky toe than either of those ass clowns. And what's worse is that these new aged imbecile hardcore followers applaud guys like Rigo and Ward being ducked by lesser fighters who happen to be more entertaining to the ignorant, uneducated hardcore followers of today. Ten years ago, GGG would have to see Ward, especially after agreeing to fight Chavez Jr at 68. Ten years ago, guys like Santa Cruz, Mares, Loma and anyone else would have had to see Rigo, and hardcore fight fans would have demanded it. But that day is gone.
