Second of all you just called GGG and Kovalev brawlers. That isn't true you pea brained maggot

GGG andd Kovalev ARE fantastic technical boxers.... they just happen to have KO power. wtf is wrong with you?

And you're randomly saying I don't appreciate alll boxing styles..... Again, you have me confused with someone else you dunce. NONE of my favorite boxers are brawlers. And the two guys who you keep mentioning aren't brawlers so I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about

    Lastly........

I guess yo dumb b1tch ass missed the "and" between the words brawlers and KO artists. All good.

BTW, GGG has good technical skills. Kovalev, average at best B1ATCH!!!!

Sports at the end of the day is entertainment. People turn on their televisions because they want to be entertained. Nobody wants to see a midget version of andre dirrell.

This isnt the 40s and 50s where boxing and baseball were king. Its 2014.
You're competing with the internet bro. cable packages that have over a million channels. MMA, 24 hr news, reality tv, downloading movies that are still in theaters for free, tv series that have huge cult followings. There is so much more crap for people to do and occupy themselves today than back when boxing is king.

Part of a boxer's job is to entertain the people. Tailoring your style to be more exciting is part of the job. How you fight is self promotion.

If Rigo is such a BOXING GOD, WHY CANT HE DOMINATE WHILE THROWING MORE PUNCHES AND DO LESS RUNNING???? If floyd can do it, why cant Rigo?

You can blame bob arum and top rank all you want, but if Rigo doesnt change his style to be more entertaining, it doesnt matter who promotes him, what channel he fights for, nobody will watch that running cuban amateur style. Rigo better talk to Floyd or Broner so he can augment that style with a fake villain wanksta persona if he wants to stand a chance of having a boxing career.
Rigo beating the **** outta fan fav Donaire was very entertaining to me. Ward outlawing fan fav Froch was very entertaining to me. Lara beating Canelo's ass last week was entertaining to me. Funny thing is, most of the hypocritical ******s that infest this site are always b1tchin' about the best fighting the best when they're on their soapbox about Floyd. Then turn right around and applaud guys like Rigo and Ward, who are clearly the best at or around their respective divisions being ducked. Which one is it???

You can't stand people who claim to be "hardcore-real-true boxing fans" and appreciate the sweet science, but your post is basically a stereotype of a boxing fan who just wants to see brawls and call pure boxers "runners". You might as well call Rigondeaux a coward, this is usually what bloodthirsty boxing fans do.

You make valid points about the reality of boxing today and what fans want to see, but the bold parts are the perfect example of what's wrong with some (most?) fans today. Boxing is not reserved for sluggers nor is it reserved for slick boxers. The "real" boxing fans are those who respect all styles of fighting.

By the way, comparing Rigondeaux's style to Dirrells is hilarious. I laughed. Either you don't understand what you see or you have only watched two or three rounds of Rigondeaux's career (which would explain why you call him a runner). The world is not just black and white.

hitking is way off on that message if he thinks brawlers are only now popular and that pure boxers were what everyone wanted to see back in the day. No, fans were even more bloodthirsty and cruel then. They wanted blood. Ask them what they want to see and they'd tell you they want to watch Lyle and Foreman slug it out, not Hearns outbox Benitez in relatively boring fashion.

I thought I made it very clear that most fight fans, myself included enjoys brawls and KOs. My stance is there has been a shift in the way the "hardcore" fight fan's mind thinks. 10-15yrs ago there was a demand to see the best fighters, even if their style was "boring." There was also a bigger demand to see some of these action guys fight these technicians to validate them. That is no longer the case. Some of these folks runnimg around calling themselves hardcore fans would be perfectly content if the jr feather and super middleweight divisions proceeded as if Rigo and Ward didn't exist. The networks and promoters know this. And because of it, a fan like me who wants to see the best fighters, regardless of style fight. We're getting shafted. I don't see what's off base about that. I also don't see how a person can call his or herself a fight fan and not wanna see the best fighters. I'm not a fan of Matthysse's style. But he's no worse than the #2 or #3 jr welterweight in the sport. So I wanna see him fight. I'm not sold on Kovalev, but I'm not missing his fights either. That's a fight fan. I don't know WTF this bull**** is most of these cats be talking about.

Its funny listening to hipsters like yourself trying to sound like high brow fans by being proponents of boring limited fighters who are scared to engage and proclaiming guys like Andre Dirrell and Erislandy Lara as masterful boxers.

When somebody comes along who actually represents 'the sweet science" like James Toney, Wilfred Benitez, Jose Napoles, Tony Canzoneri, Barney Ross, Mike McCallum let me know and i'll be sure to tune in. Guess what they all have in common? After they make you miss while standing right in front of you they were busy hitting you. Hit and don't get hit but current fans saying it like parrots always forget the first word in that saying. Hit.
