Welcome to the real world kid. The reality is a fighter under a promoter is hired help. It's just like a rapper. Just like an actor. The person who pays you is the boss. End of story. This ain't the NBA, this ain't the nfl..Boxing doesn't promote itself as a unified body where that mentality you have fits. This is every man for themselves every time out, it's a solitary sport. A fighter is only as good as his most recent fight. You say a promoter just signs the checks..well explain to me why a guy like diaz would just say "It's too difficult working with Rigo". It was Diaz who got motherfk'ng rigo to leave the hotel and sightsee in NYC!! I mean when a guy like Diaz says "I can't work with Rigondeaux" you know there is a huge problem getting this guy to do what he doesn't want to.

Stop putting words into my mouth. Fighters can show up to fights for free, when was the last time you saw rigo at any fight where he wasn't upcoming in a fight of his own? So what you are saying now is rigo paying a g for a hotel and a flight is too hard on him? Manny and Ginger have what rigo wants! You think Arum was really paying for manny to come into america early on? It was Manny who took his own money and flew to L.A. to go mess with Roach and them people. Arum just got him there the full way. You can't tell me an idiot like Rios is getting top rank pushes..what marketing you see for brandon rios? None..he gets that press himself. Same with the garcia kid..both of them. Angel and Danny are at every east coast boxing event regardless if it's hbo or showtime...ain't nobody paying them for that.

Rigo doesn't even speak english and he is supposed to go around promote himself?.

Rigo is a fighter, one of the best in the world if not the best, if a promotion company can't promote him , what's the point of having a promoter?.

What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish, Son of man?.
First of all you can go literally walk up to a broom and go fk yourself coming at me like that. Now that I got that out of the way...My brother, Univision, Telemundo, televisa..how many spanish networks are there? How many fights happen in florida a year? How many cuban events aren't there in Florida? English isn't the issue.Rigo is an amazing fighter, one of the best of his generation but how many of the worlds greatest singers can't get a deal..or make the crossover? Its entertainment, the abilities are only half of it. Who was pushing marquez's career? Nobody. What did Marquez do? He said alright i'ma go do some announcing in spanish. Ok i'ma be at every boxing event in mexico cause cameras will be there. You don't have to agree with me but that's lazy made mentality. If someone ain't handing something to you go take it. If a motherfker too lazy to take the time to invest in himself he ain't worth you investing in him. Period.

Alright he's pampered but motherfkr if you looked like that and were an athlete you'd be pampered too. Let's not act ****** now. He's a good looking dude and he was marketable without boxing. The fact he boxes is an added bonus. Canelo could've gone and done a million other things besides box and people would still want him on camera. Also so you can stfu about that I ain't say nothing at all about him changing his fight style. I've said it before "I think Rigo is a perfect boxer" All i said is he refuses to go chop it up at events with people don't expect people to be calling him for interviews and shh. You see everybody else grinding between fights even the top stars. You think some promoter just handed it to floyd? You think some promoter just handed it to every other boxer? Everyone can't be DLH or Canelo, not everyone has that look. Everyone else is grinding to get theirs or maintain it. I ain't once turn on a spanish boxing show and seen rigo on it...and we all know them shows support the hell out of spanish boxers. I ain't that hard to mingle, shhh can't think of one single hispanic organization that wouldn't love to ooohhh and ahhhh at the presence of an olympiad and champion like Rigo but it ain't happening. Why not? It's your managers job to get you there and get it done.

Missed me with that mah dood. I dont favor any particular style. So get **** out my face with your non factual bull****.

Maybe you should re-read my whole post and work on your reading while you're at it. I was simply trying to explain the point hitking was trying to make. Even my very first sentence was saying that it doesnt necessarily mean I support his post(s).

And Andre Dirrell wtf? Ive never even been a fan of his. So once again, get the **** out of my face you little punk b*tch. And come back at me when you get your facts right. You piece of ****.

The days are not that far behind me where I was shelling out 49.95 to watch Floyd Mayweather pull the shades down on my eyelids. He was much more boring that Rigo. FMJ's fights after Gatti '06 and before Cotto '12 were embarrassing & terrible.
But for Rigo, it truly IS a matter of putting a real opponent in front of him.
By the time he is 37 maybe he can headline a PPV at 147, or he can be taken out to pasture like Gamboa

I work as a company field auditor so I'm not paid in a weekly basis. And by the way, I'm being paid as I type this in a company provided laptop.

Second of all you just called GGG and Kovalev brawlers. That isn't true you pea brained maggot

GGG andd Kovalev ARE fantastic technical boxers.... they just happen to have KO power. wtf is wrong with you?

And you're randomly saying I don't appreciate alll boxing styles..... Again, you have me confused with someone else you dunce. NONE of my favorite boxers are brawlers. And the two guys who you keep mentioning aren't brawlers so I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about

                  Lastly........

GGG is a fantastic Technical boxer with underrated defense, Kovalev, not as much.

Funny thing is, most of the hypocritical ******s that infest this site are always b1tchin' about the best fighting the best when they're on their soapbox about Floyd. Then turn right around and applaud guys like Rigo and Ward, who are clearly the best at or around their respective divisions being ducked. Which one is it???
Lets be fair, you can't put Lara's performance vs Canelo, and Rigo's vs Donaire in the same league entertainment wise.

Rigo vs Donaire was actually an exciting dramatic chess match where they were constantly jockeying for position. One of my favorite fights to watch. Inspite of how Donaire has been **** on, he has skills, and it was great fun to watch him try and match wits with Rigondeaux.

Canelo isn't so clever though, and there wasn't really any matching wits with Lara, so it was a fight where there wasn't much action, and there wasn't much technical boxing either. It was Lara playing defense against a plodder, not great to watch.
