Oh spare me your outrage Teddy. You're always trying to act like some big conspiracy is going on... Lara lost plain and simple. You don't get points for making a guy miss and running. Canelo gets points for aggression alone in my book. Defensive fighters have to stop running and expecting to win fights that way.

1. yes, you do get points for making a guy miss. its called defense and is one of the four criterias for scoring a professional boxing match.

2. lara didnt run.

running is just trying to stay away which he didnt do as he was landing punches, more of them than canelo in fact. any time you land more than your opponent you arent running, you are boxing. running is just trying not to get hit without any effort of landing yourself, which clearly isnt the case if you out land your opponent.

3. you dont get points for aggression alone, you get points for effective aggression. aggression alone doesnt mean anything and canelo was highly ineffective for most of the fight.

All I will say about this post is thank god we have qualified judges judging fights rather than so called fans of the sport.

I am sorry you feel that way. However, I have a question for you. Name one thing that Canelo did better than Lara in that fight outside of landing that uppercut which opened up the gash over his eye and being the aggressor and applying ineffective pressure?

Erislandy obviously landed the cleaner and more effective punches all night long. At best and on occasion, Ginger would sustain a very good and effective but also limited body attack throughout the bout due to Lara's constant movement and that's it.

Other than that, he did absolutely nothing to justify winning this fight other than being the aggressor and applying pressure and how could he? He did not once cut off the ring against Erislandy as he would never stand still long enough in order for him to land a sustained attack.

On the other hand, Lara was peppering him with fast jabs, counters and combinations to the head which caused Canelo's face to swell. However, I still didn't think Erislandy deserved to win the fight though because I believe as the three judges believed that he could have performed a lot better than he did.

So in short, the narrative of this fight is more of Lara giving this fight away rather than Alvarez taking it from him.

I concur and we are in total agreement then. It's true that Lara seemed like he just wanted to go the distance and not get caught in any exchanges with Alvarez; Hence all the backing up, circling and not letting his hands go. He just didn't want to engage with him; Which perhaps more than anything cost him the fight. Also, I agree. Erislandy's body language and Canelo's body language couldn't have been more totally different. One fighter appeared as if he was the one who wanted it the most while the other appeared as though he was frightened of the other's punching power. Additionally, you are right. Those body punches by Canelo seemed to take all the life and fight out of Lara once he started making adjustments in the fourth round. Where we disagree is in your assessment that Ginger beat him up. I didn't see that. I saw him plod, stalk and throw several wild punches at Lara which didn't land and where Erislandy on occasion would capitalize on them but not nearly enough.

Worse than Pac & Bradley? Damn u must hate Alvarez. Very close fight, too close, coulda gone either way, I had it a draw. If they would have gave it to Lara I wouldn't have complained, Iwwould have gave Lara his props. Alvarez got the nod, yes I know they got big plans for the guy, but it was too close.
