Are you forgetting the Marquez fight? The reason I brought it up is because he has apparently requested to defend the JMW belt in the Maidana bout, where obviously the weight limit is 154lbs.

Now he can tell and agree with Maidana that he's going to make 147 but he likely won't be stripped of his 147 belt if he goes over, and he's shown he's willing to pay any financial penalty if it gives him an edge (gloves, weight w/e).

so the crux of this thread is:

if the ref allows both fighters to get away with fouling that's fine because it gives Maidana a better chance to win. But if he calls it as he is supposed to and uses warnings and point deductions to eliminate it (as the rules suggest) then its bad because Maidana wont have as much of a chance to win.

I know of em and but this is the Professional Boxing ranks at some point you just have to come to that conclusion that this isnt golf this is the hurt game. The sport is like this by design not by accident, if mayweather wants to have an exhibition match then have one but dont try to use the excuses that Maidana is dirty as the reason you want ot have one because Mayweather is just as dirty.
