Nothing he said was racist. Whenever a white fighter bursts on the scene he's often hyped to oblivion. Take GGG, Ruslan, and Kovalav for instance. Froch is on there as well.Comment

By mentioning Road Salka, you're putting Manny Pacquiao in the same class as Danny Garcia. Don't do that! If you had of said Algeri would whoop Maidana, or Canelo, or even Guerrero, you would be saying something better. You'd be lying, but it would be better.Comment

I'm not a fan of this fight, Garcia, Matthyse, Khan, Hell even Alvarez at JMW, or Thurman/Porter would've all been better fights than Chris. Hell it might actually be a great fight just that Chris came out from frickin' nowhere, beat Prod, now he's going up against The Great Pacquiao... I guarantee PPV's will be low.Chris Algieri, of Long Island, has offer to fight Manny Pacquiao in China in November
It's a huge opportunity for the local fighter who came up in club shows and cutting his teeth at the Paramout Theatre in Huntington. The offer is for seven figures on HBO Pay-Per-View.
Bob Arum of Top Rank has made a formal offer to Long Island's Chris Algieri to face Manny Pacquiao on Nov. 22 in Macao, China, continuing a string of incredible good fortune for the Huntington native, the Daily News has learned. Arum and Algieri's promoter, Joe DeGuardia said an agreement could be reached in the coming days.
"We have a Pacquiao offer on the table and we are negotiating that actually as we speak," DeGuardia said in a phone interview Tuesday afternoon. "And I expect that we're going to have a resolution within the next day or two."
DeGuardia declined to go into details on the deal but said it's a seven-figure offer to Algieri, who would be rising in weight to challenge Pacquiao for his WBO welterweight belt. The bout will be shown on HBO Pay-Per-View at the Venetian Casino, where Pacquiao fought Brandon Rios last year.
Arum expects to talk to DeGuardia again Wednesday and said that Artie Pelullo, who has options on Algieri, is traveling to Arum's home in Los Angeles, where Arum is on the mend from knee replacement surgery, to help finalize the deal.
"I hope we'll be able to get Joe on the phone and we'll be able to button this up," Arum said in a phone interview. "We're talking serious now with the idea of making the fight. It's not [BULL]. Now, whether it gets made or not I don't know."
Arum wouldn't say if Algieri (20-0, eight knockouts) is the only fighter he's made an offer to face Pacquiao. DeGuardia wouldn't say, either. "But I can tell you the fight is there for Chris," the Bronx-based promoter said. "The fight is there for Chris."
A fight with Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 knockouts) would be an incredible windfall for Algieri, who's gone from performing in club shows and cutting his teeth at the Paramount Theatre in Huntington to now the top candidate to face Pacquaio. He was impressive in upsetting former WBO junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov June 14 at Barclays Center, boxing with his right eye completely shut for most of the bout.
"It's the best possible fight out there for Chris," DeGuardia said. "He did great in the Ruslan fight and he did great there but fighting Pacquiao puts him on a completely different level and a win against Pacquiao makes him a star, a legitimate and true star."

Its really not that bad a fight. Not every fight is gonna be a superfight. And Manny did what some would consider a superfight with Bradley earlier this year. This is a nice lil stay busy fight for Manny. Not one that I'll personally order. But still not a ****ty fight. Nobody would be b1tchin' if he fought Provo. Algeri just beat Provo. What the problem is???
On a sidenote. How awesome is it that in the span of nine months. Algeri will have gone from headlining an ESPN FNFs card in front of about 1500 people in a tiny arena in his hometown to headlining a PPV with the second biggest star in the sport. These are the storylines that make boxing unique and special. Don't see how anyone could cheer against this kid.

atleast algeiri is on a hot streak by winning against pac sparring mate provo..
salka on the other hand...
but agreed that this is just a wast of pac's time. not unless pac is fighting for algeiri's 140 belt and planning on moving down for good..Comment

Only caveat with the Abregu fight is that, with both guys being in the WBC's top 5 at welterweight, Pacquiao vs Abregu couldv'e been called a title eliminator by the WBC, with the winner being Mayweather's mandatory challenger.
The negotiations would likely end up being fruitless, knowing Arum's m.o., but at the least the fight would end up happening, after being sent to a 75/25 purse bid.Comment

Arum suggested Abregu, and Koncz said NO. Koncz said Algeri wasn't on the top of the list, but suddenly...Only caveat with the Abregu fight is that, with both guys being in the WBC's top 5 at welterweight, Pacquiao vs Abregu couldv'e been called a title eliminator by the WBC, with the winner being Mayweather's mandatory challenger.

Meh.. I don't think this fight should be on PPV, but I think it's going to be in interesting fight. Algieri is very good boxer, is at least 4 inches taller and has a 5 inch reach advantage over Manny. Never said I was paying for it, but then again I'm not paying for Mayweather vs Maidana II either being that I thought Floyd CLEARLY won the first fight and will win the second even easier.
And btw I think Algieri could give Maidana or Guerrero problems, but Canelo at 154 and properly hydrated would be too big.Comment
