I never heard/read Mayweather saying the gloves were the reason for Miaidana's wins. All I hear is Maidana saying the gloves were the reason he lost. I give Maidana credit for giving props to Floyd for giving him a rematch, now he needs to train hard, increase his stamina, and hope for a KO.

If you watched the ppv and saw the footage of the glove fiasco, there was a part when Floyd was walking out and venting about how its no wonder Maidana is knocking everyone down and its because he's been wearing gloves with no padding in them.

This whole glove controversy is getting ridiculous.

Is Floyd wrong for not letting Maidana wear his gloves? Of course hes is, Robert stated they were uncomfortable, but why are people saying he made him wear SPARING GLOVES? He wore 8oz powerlocks who Robert just stated his fighters also wear them and Lopez and Ruslan wore them in there biggest fights.

Al Haymon and the networks (Showtime) would have been finished with Maidana. Maidana will lose it all and Floyd would face minimal repercussions, because between them, Floyd is the indispensable one over at the Showtime/Al Haymon side of things as far as business goes. Everyone knew this, and this is why things happened the way they did and now that floyd has set the precedent, no one will be allowed to use those MX gloves again, and maybe any other gloves floyd deems unacceptable for him.

Haymon and Showtime would have a hard time doing anything to Maidana if Floyd was the one who backed out. The commission approved the second pair of gloves and Floyd and Ellerbe still threatened to cancel the fight. As for the first pair it was reported that the commision originally apprived the first ones but after Floyd's objection they changed it to try and get a quick resolution by saying no to the the first ones and yes to the second ones.
There was nothing in the contract about the gloves. Maidana could have said "I am walking into the ring first wearing the second pair of commision approved gloves, if you choose not to show up that's on you not me."
What would have Haymon or Showtime done to him then. The public would have known what was up.

I dont think people here have ever seen the difference between horse hair and all foam. Power Locks might be a "punchers glove" but theres a huge difference between horse hair and foam.

$1.5m was a false rumor. But why let facts get in the way of a good rant?

There was a source that said it's true and there was a source that declined it. Who's to say which is true or not. Lets just use common sense and logic. Is Maidana going to change his gloves just because Floyd was nervous about them depsite the fact that the commission approved them? That I highly doubt. There had to be some sort of under the table deal that went on for Maidana and Garcia to change gloves.

I guess. BigPoppaPump referred to Maidana's manager saying it was false. I did see where he said "I don't know where 1.5m came from." But here I can tell you...it's a rumor that idiots are running with.

Before the fight one of the people from Maidana's team came on Argentine TV and said that they were gonna be offered money for Maidana to switch gloves. And guess what happened the next day on fight night? Maidana came out with completely different gloves.

This was posted by Nicolino who is Argentinian himself. But I guess it's all a rumor right?
