Where do you come up with this stuff? LOL. Maidana's purse was in the contract and set in stone. Nowhere in the contract were there stipulations on the type of gloves Maidana can or can not wear. Upon reviewing the gloves, the first pair Ellerbe protested and as a result were not approved by the commission. The 2nd pair were approved but Floyd still wasnt satisfied.

if floyd was able to make maidana switch gloves he can do anything. did u just started watching boxing yesterday? this is floyd we're talking about here. let me repeat its his way or the highway. if u were in maidana's position would u risk a career high pay day and possibly the most maidana will ever earn over some pair of gloves? its easy for u to sit there and say team maidana should have hold out, etc. like i said if maidana didnt get a chunk knock off from his purse it will be something else. so maidana really have no choice but to go along with it.

just a thought, as for fans who put a lot of money on betting stations, i wonder how they feel when they got to know that the fighter to whom they have placed their money on was suddenly put on a handicap....

Yes but he had to bribe Maidana to change the gloves. It was Maidanas choice to either accept or decline given the fact that the commission gave him the go ahead to use the 2nd pair of gloves. Given Maidanas situation I guess an extra $1.5mil was worth changing gloves for.

Demands during negotiations yes! He hold all the marbles. He doesnt have the power to pull out of a fight an hour before with a packed stadium though. He would have faced some serious repurcussions and lawsuits. But hey, he bribed Maidana and they took the bait. This is why I say team Maidana gave up every right to cry about it afterwards. Had they stuck to thier guns with an hour till showtime, Floyd would have had to fight in Maidanas commission approved gloves.

he either agree and get that extra 1.5mil or hold off and let floyd give in then i bet they'll take something away from maidana. it might not be right away, but maidana would prolly never be in any major event fights, or maidana will never see 1mil as a pay day again, etc. the risk was too much for maidana to take.

I dont think people here have ever seen the difference between horse hair and all foam. Power Locks might be a "punchers glove" but theres a huge difference between horse hair and foam.

Ask Floyd becasue according to him the gloves are the reason why Maidana was putting a hurting on all his past opponents.

I never heard/read Mayweather saying the gloves were the reason for Miaidana's wins. All I hear is Maidana saying the gloves were the reason he lost. I give Maidana credit for giving props to Floyd for giving him a rematch, now he needs to train hard, increase his stamina, and hope for a KO.
