I think Kovalev showed too much respect to Hopkins. I believe he could have finished the fight before 12 since Hopkins had absolutely nothing for him. It was only in the 12th that kovalev got pissed at Hopkins for that tounge thing that he actually tried in the fight.

Agreed. Kovalev seemed determined to outbox Hopkins, and didn't seek the KO besides the 1st after the KD and the 12th.

Kovalev fought fairly cautiously for him. He did respect Hopkins, and I think he liked him too. Not the usual brutal Kovalev. Possibly a smarter performance though.

Hopkins strategy, lose the first fight, study him, invoke the rematch clause, and school him in a rematch. Smart but ****** strategy. He is banking on winning a rematch. I would pick Hopkins in a rematch but that involves losing so that sucks.

Where's Kovalev Number 0?

Not sure I've ever known someone to be P4P #1 coming off one of the most one sided Unification fights In recent memory.

Great performance by Kovalev. Very disciplined performance. Showed why Darnell Boone rated him a better boxer than Ward and Stevenson. Nobody thought he could win a slow paced fight with Hopkins and he won a shut-out.

This week was a real eye-opener as to the level of boxing knowledge on NSB. Picking Hopkins to win was fine, he's a legend who deserved the benefit of the doubt.

Comparing Kovalev to Kelly Pavlik and claiming he was a straightforward brawler with no boxing skills is another matter. Either some of these guys never watch that much boxing or they have no idea what they're looking at when they do.

Kovalev-Ward should be the new super-fight in boxing.
