Cotto/Martinez underperforms, does 350,000 buys

Yeah there's no question that PPV events are watered down today.

Case in point, the Canelo/Angulo PPV. That's about as clear cut a regular Showtime subscription fight as one can be -- yet fans had to shell out $70 f**king dollars for it. Pac/Rios was basically paying $70 to see how Pacquiao would come back after the KO (against a virtual sparring partner), and Floyd/Guerrero was paying $70 to see....well, Floyd and once again, a virtual sparring partner. Hell Showtime damn near made Broner/Maidana a PPV fight!! Lmao.

Canelo/Lara shouldn't be a PPV fight either. That's a very good fight, but one that squarely belongs on Showtime subscription. Not a $70 PPV.

It's completely out of control.

I thought the fight would do alot better numbers than 350k; it will hurt Cotto at the barganing table with Canelo more than anything; I really don't think there are to many PPV's just buy the fights you want to see you're not any less of a boxing fan if you don't buy a PPV fight.

The undercard and al the other sporting events that day combine to really hurt the PPV buys. We re at a point that you need atleast a decent co main event not Vazquez jr-Sonsona.

350k is good but down from the 500k I expected.

Let's see Canelo outdo him against no name Erislandy Lara. Cotto-Martinez was the 4th month with a PPV in a row. After a few years where only Mayweather and Pacquiao fought on PPV, this year Manny fought in the 1st half of the year and Canelo began his PPV career.

This is good. There shouldn't be 7 fights a year on PPV. We shouldn't have to pay for great matchups all the time.

Cotto should rematch Mayweather but do that at 160. That fight would sell.
