that had something to do with it also the fact that there was only about 3-4 ppvs that whole year. canelo-lara will already be the 5th ppv this year.

That's actually very true. The amount of PPV's this year are really high. By the end of the year there will have been like 8 right?

Maybe if Bob Arum would put on better undercards people would be willing to spend money to watch the entire thing, instead of spending only for the main event, which most people don't want to do.

"Pay-per-view was always designed, as was closed circuit back in the day, for true super fights, not just very good fights. There have been pay-per-views every month and people resent the fact that they're asked to pay extra for anything halfway decent
. Boxing pay-per-view numbers are down. Look at the (recent) numbers for the (Floyd) Mayweather and (Manny) Pacquiao fights. The UFC pay-per-view numbers are also down."

Been saying this for a while now. This year has gone way overboard with the PPV. Many of them are Boxing after dark/Show Box calibre matches. I'm glad these cards are flopping. PPV should only be for real superfights.

That being said, Bob needs to lay off the morphine if he tries to push Pacquiao-Algieri after saying all that.
That's a really excellent quote from Arum -- he nails it. Boxing needs a new model but where was this thinking when he put Pacquiao-Rios on PPV? While Arum has diagnosed the problem he, like every other power broker in the sport, really doesn't care.

PPV's are bad for boxing in general when there are so many of them. Less and less are buying them. The price point is making people say the hell with it, I will watch it next week on replay.

PPV's get much media attention, but also leave many fans isolated. Last year I told myself no more than 3 PPV's per year for me. I have already bought 2 of them this year so I have to be very selective on what I buy next, because I will not fold. I got real life bills to pay that will not go away, Including rent, Car, car insurance, house insurance, light bills, water bills, cable bills, groceries etc , and when it comes down to it, PPV's are only a luxury.

especially when they give us crap on the undercard the ppvs overall this year have been hella weak.
