Let me give you an example of how illogical fans on here seem to be. Arum came out over the weekend and said Mayweather will never fight Cotto while targeting a Dec return. When everyone knows Mayweather fights in September. He does this having known that things are "sour" between himself and Mayweather. That a fight hasn't been done between them in more than six years. Yet, the majority of people are shouting out from the heavens here that Mayweather will duck Cotto, instead of saying STFU Arum and just pick up the phone and make the fight. All this cursing and calling people Hitler is only worsening the Cold War not improving it.

Pacquaio and Mayweather are both consistently commanding the highest purses in boxing history. They are both very expensive. Where was all this talk about losses when HBO was paying for BOTH Mayweather and Pacquaio annually at the same time?

When you factor in the cost of Pacquaio vs. Bradley, it is not far off from the expense of Mayweather vs. Maidana. Pacquaio was getting a guarantee of $20 million, and Bradley $6 million. The undercard was like $600K. Then keep in mind that Top Rank is also going to take their fee too, and who knows how much that even is? People forget Top Rank has to profit from the deal as well.

HBO's boxing budget in the past was double what it is today. Maybe even triple what it is today. And back then, I didn't hear any of you whining about losses HBO could be suffering because of that.

This is bigger than the promoters as we are seeing. HBO and Showtime have been at it for years. The only time I've seen them come together was to do the Tyson Lewis bout. True, HBO has been the mecca of boxing networks, but Showtime is gaining ground. If GGG wanted to fight Quillin for example, GGG would have to be a free agent and the same goes for Quillin. Why? Because the networks might own exclusive rights to the fighters. HBO owns exclusive rights to Pac's events so all this GB-TR stuff is all talk until the networks play nice. The way HBO sees it, why lend one of their high profile fighters to Showtime? So let's say they let GGG go to Showtime for a fight. The casual watcher looks up and see GGG and says "he must fight on Showtime so I'm going to get a subscription". Then HBO looses a customer. Showtime same thing. They see Canelo fighting on HBO (after the split), then they will get HBO and Showtime looses a buyer. It's all competition. The only way we will see big fights is if GB and TR get their dough together and buy a their own network....They can call it GoldenRank....lol
