Will Cotto hold the MW title hostage?

Cotto will fight Floyd, even if he loses which he won't , the Canelo fight will still be available. I don't think he fights either of them in December, I think he'll fight someone else maybe Bradley like Arum said or Quillin then Mayweather in May, Canelo end of the year.

Golovkin is a hypejob and isn't that good, yet there isn't a person in the MW division he'd get credit for beating. People wouldn't even give him credit if he fought Martinez

Like I said in that thread about Golovkin/Geale yesterday, the only fighter Golovkin would get credit for is Ward. Not even Froch would get him credit.

Strange, considering the people who say all these fighters are bums are mostly the same people saying Golovkin has never fought anyone and will get exposed. How exposed can he be if they themselves think Ward is the one that has to do it?

I'm more talking about the people on this site criticizing it and saying Geale is garbage and GGG should walk through him. If GGG walks through Geale it just means he's a damn good fighter and a force to be reckoned with. Geale is already a proven top dog in this division. He went on the road and beat Sturm in Germany.



Agreed. His focus should be cleaning out the division and that means beating Geale, Soliman, Quillin, Murray and if Cotto plans on staying...him too. That should keep him busy for 2-2 1/2 years.

I agree those are the only real established MW's he needs to beat but he's fighting Geale and Soliman already called him out its likely that happens this year. That only leaves Quillin who may lose if he fights anyone half decent anyway or he'll wait to be sacrificed to Canelo and unless Murray pulls a ATG duck job i don't see why that would take over 2 years.

Murray has a South African promoter now who puts on cards in Monaco so he'll fight there and a Golovkin showdown with the insane money they have in that place seems logical. HBO would probably air that too if he was the opponent it would be surprising if it didn't happen in 2015.

2 choices if your Cotto, Mayweather or Canelo. His highest pay day was against Mayweather. His other possible Huge pay day is Canelo the whole PR vs Mexico thing. Mayweather has stated he would love to fight in NY at the Barclays. Cotto vs Mayweather II for the Middleweight World Championship. Previous fight did 1.5 Million on PPV. They will possibly do 2mil and Multiple mil at gate. But he said that was his Toughtest fight, but maybe he believes at that weight he has a better chance. He probably would be thinking Canelo would be easier and with a NY crowd behind him and his new trainer he can beat Canelo much easier later this year then get an even bigger payday fighting Floyd 2015 Cinco De Mayo. That way he gets super duper paid with to big fights and sell possibly 4mill PPVs. Where else can he make that much and have two HUGE FIGHTS. i think we are gonna see Cotto vs Mayweather II FOR THE MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD, BARCLAYS, NY. My 2cents

I'll tell you what's going to happen. Geale is a crafty veteran and a former world champion. This is not a pushover at all. He's fought GGG in the amateurs already so he's witnessed the power first hand. He will absolutely have some success in this fight, will win some rounds and GGG may stop him late or win a decision.

And after the fight is over, they will claim that GGG was exposed, was a hypejob, has overrated power, etc. etc. because he didn't run through Geale in 4 rounds. Because they already have it in their minds that he's some type of bum/journeyman.

Well I don't think he is a MW, yes he beat the man but da man was a cripple. I don't expect him to fight someone like GGG to be honest because that would be unfair, they (Team Cotto) probably pick the Martinez fight because they know something we the fans don't know, their gamble has paid off but it would be silly to try someone like GGG. Cotto would probably fight Canelo or Mayweather at 160 and whoever wins would probably drop that belt like a hot potato.

I don't even think it would have to go that bad for Golovkin for that to happen. He is being held to one of the highest standards in boxing currently, he isn't always going to live up to them.
