How is Cotto HBO's cash cow? Do they promote him? As far I know HBO is not putting on TR PPV cards, they are distributing them.

Plus I don't think he's ever been knocked down for what it's worth. Lara has. Not that it means much, just sayin'
Agreed. According to NSB if you're not the best in you're division you're garbage. If your not top 10 pound for pound you're garbage. And if they've never heard of you or seen you fight you're garbage. The funniest thread is the Bradley vs. Provodnikov announcement. 95% of the people in that thread called Ruslan a bum/ESPN fighter who didn't belong on HBO.

The way I see it, GGG is a middleweight and this next fight is between two of the best middleweights in the world today. This is a good step up for him, a good measuring stick and should put him right in line to stake his claim in being the best at 160 right now.

He's also the best possible opponent out there.

Unifications aside, Geale is/would be the best possible 160lb opponent to any of the current 160lb champions. Cotto included.

So how is he not a fantastic opponent?

Cotto should really focus on Canelo-Lara winner. I think a Lara fight is less likely, but still possible. If Canelo does get by Lara (a big IF, imo) I think this fight is all but guaranteed for December. It makes the most sense for everyone involved.

Cotto-GGG is such a huge mismatch. I don't want to see it personally. With Martinez out of the picture as an elite MW now, I think GGG should target Quillin after he (presumably) beats Geale

Also I know it's just NSB, but most people on here when calling for Golovkin to step up (after Stevens and Adama) and the name most kept saying was Geale.

And rightfully so. Golovkin and Geale are the 2 best full time middleweights in the world right now. It's disgusting how this fight is getting slept on and criticized so much.

To be fair, The Ring does rank him as #2 contender in the world, in front of Quillin. So he isn't that slept on

You think so? I was under the impression they wanted the winner of Corto-Martinez against Golovkin, even if Cotto would have won

But now with Shcafer gone, if Cotto-Canelo happens and Canelo wins.... Surely Canelo-Golovkin would be realistic

Golovkin may be the best middleweight in the world, but he has a lot of riff-raff to clean up if he wants to be an uncrowned champion. Gaele is an alright opponent and a good first step in cleaning up the riff-raff but he needs a few guys like that. Hopefully for his sake a couple knock each other off to both shorten up the task and so some of those guys have slightly better profiles when he takes them down.

Long process for a 32 year old to undertake especially when all he needed to do was beat 1 guy.

No doubt. A handful of people are sleeping on it and criticizing but I think most know what a great fight we have on July 26th. (At least on NSB)

I think those calling for it before but now backtracking probably thought the fight wasn't a possibility- that Geale wouldn't fight him. But now that the fight is made.... Well, he's a bum. Lol.
