His power and movement were his gifts. The knees have robbed him off both so there's no point in continuing.

.....that ****in sucks. Maybe we can finally get Sturm vs. Martinez, a fight that should've happened a while ago. Both guys are on their way out and now would be the time to make it happen.

His whole style is based on his legs, he was a shell of himself last night.
I agree. Sergio's success was based in his great mobility and judging by what was seen last night it appears his legs are gone. He certainly was hurt by a punch before the first KD but on the other KDs and the rest of the first round he was struggling to keep his balance and in other rounds continued showing weak legs. I don't think that more surgeries could help him and as time goes by it only will get worse. I think 39 yrs. old is a good age to retire.

Sturm not to long ago destroyed Barker. I'm not even sure I like that matchup for Sergio.

I'd like to see him get out now. The last thing I want to see is some journeyman with a 19-12 record have a knockout victory over Sergio Martinez on his resume.

Unfortunately in boxing it never works out that way.

He's not going to beat any top 5-10 MWs. It's done. Once the knees goes, his whole game goes. The guy was leaning in and pushing his shots. I don't care how great Sergio was, that's not a top 20 fighter in the MW division.

Most people don't know it but most athletes retire in any sports because of knee problems ,its a wrap for him.

Well, he can alwyas fight class B or below and he might piggy bank on this until retirement.

The cash cow floyd mayweather is doing this for the rest of his career, it works, you can pile lots of money on it, the gullible fans will always buy it. I don't think it could work for sergio but if he's not retiring and he is shot, then, it's the only way for him to prolong his career and still earn cool bucks.

Problem is, Sergio would lose to B and even C level fighters at this point. Further damage for no point. The guy makes good money in Argentina with businesses and what not.

Just retire Sergio. The only reason he would fight again is for a paycheck. Nobody would really be interested after that sorryass performance last night

^^^^yes, I believe my 17yo niece could of beat Martinez last night. He is done, retire, make money in Spain and Argentina promoting. No athletic commission should pass him for anything. It was dumb sad how that played out. E****ially when you watch performances from 2-3 years ago. This version gets owned by Paulie. Went out not saying chit about his legs (I mean it was pretty obvious) but said he got caught in the 1st rd and never recovered. So he saying he fought for another 8 rounds buzzed. Yeah right man. Went out not taking any shine from Cotto historical win. Retire
