I'd like to see him get out now. The last thing I want to see is some journeyman with a 19-12 record have a knockout victory over Sergio Martinez on his resume.

Unfortunately in boxing it never works out that way.
From what I've heard, he didn't look great against Soliman. Sturm could very well whup his ass, but if he can't get out of his contract, I'd rather him bow out by losing to a top guy. Is HBO really gonna let him fight a journeyman? doubt it.

As one of the biggest Sergio huggers on this site, he needs to call it a day. He looked like a shell of himself in there, it was sad to watch at points in the fight when he would throw a punch without moving his feet at all, miss and almost fall over because he was so off-balance and he didn't want to lean on his leg too much.

The injuries appear to be much, much worse than his team is letting on and I don't think in this state, he will be competitive against any guys beyond the ESPN porspect level of fighters. There were opportunities for him to counter Cotto easily but he never took the chance when Sergio from 3 years ago would have hurt Cotto.

He has had a good career but his legs are just gone.

Martinez and his team knew he was not doing good. Knee problems and a long lay off. Take the pay day and enjoy your life. Can still be active in boxing but just not as a fighter.

Sergio should retire. He has the legs of a 50-year-old woman now. If he does have a fight left on his contract, he should take on an opponent no tougher than Rosado. Although, to be honest, even he probably would have beaten last night's Sergio.

Don't boxers have to pass physicals before fights. How the hell was Sergio permitted to fight?

Braker threw out his hip and I think has retired from boxing. I think that Sturm would even be too much for Martinez right now.....there are no good fights for him, he should ride off into the sunset and become a commentator or something. He wasn't even 50% of what he used to be and competing at that level, he will suffer damage and lose against really subpar competition.

Whoever wants to see him fight again is sick in the head. Martinez conned the public last night.

Also, just because he has a contract doesn't mean he has to fight.

I am a Cotto fan but I am a Sergio Martinez fan too. It hurt me a lot, when I saw Sergio loosing in that kind of fashion. I feel bad for Sergio he is a true warrior he fought anyone, he was robbed by Al Haymon, he fought on short notice, was robbed by the WBC.
I am happy for Cotto but on the same time I feel very bad for Sergio. Sergio might have a chance against Sam Soliman. What do you think. The last fight against Soliman in Argentina broadcasted by HBO.

Sergio was awful last night. He wasn't even a shell of his former self. If he tried to cash in one last time then he probably will retire in the near future.

If he does try to come back it will be a long road to restrengthen his legs.
