Weren't wards promotional issues party due to him turning down backward step fights? (dare I say like this Geale one?) it's all speculation, but I would have at least liked to see Golovkins team try to approach Ward.

Well I guess there's no point crying over spilt milk, I hope his team pursues a big name after.

What the fuvk is haters problems with guys like GGG wanting to fight 4 times a years? If he had sat on his hands waiting for Martinez,he'd have been waiting forever ! Instead he goes for the top 160 guy available and willing,by able and wiling I mean guys prepared to step up,that rules out Quackllin.Murray is being built up for Monte Carlo in February,Martinez clearly isn't the force he was, that is clearly evident after his last two showings,if GGG still pursues Martinez I'll call it what it is,shameless.

Who else is their,Soliman ? It likely brings more credit than a win over Barker,Sturm and Geale now after the win over Sturm last week.it is actually a shame Geale was about to be signed, with Soliman technically the top man of that quartet.

Now their is Cotto, yet something tells me Cotto won't jump straight in with GGG after this win.lord forbid Canelo getting his hands on that 160'belt and him unifying against GGG,sparring reports told GGG treat him like a ragdoll.

How is Geale a step back fight?

You know what's a bigger step back, sitting back and doing nothing while you fade into obscurity.

Why do you think one guy is on the verge of being a star while the other one is falling off the radar.

Ward failed to capitalize on anything and now he's just sitting and will probably take one fight this year as a tune-up and do the same next year until he's out of his contract

Unfortunately Geale would be his most legit win to date. A guy coming off a loss.

He should move up. I hope he doesn't wait for Cotto to fight him, Cotto has already moved up 20lbs. Time for GGG to move up a mere 8lbs.

Not excited about it. Golovkin needs to fight a big name. Geale is a good fighter but Golovkin has already walked through "good fighters" en masse.

Just move up to 168lbs. A lot of options there.

Come to think of it, Arthur Abraham at 168lbs would be a good first fight at SMW. And that fight would surely deliver the goods. And secondly, why did the JCC Jr. fight fall through? Money issues?

Its not GGG's fault that everyone is afraid of him with floyd syndrome like chavez jr

not all GGG's fault he can't get the big fight

most of what I wanted to say has already been covered .. and NO Geale isn't coming off a loss, he won last time out

including the other belt holders, Geale is widely seen as a top 5 MW, and at one point Geale even held 2 Alphabet titles (took Sturm's WBA belt)

but provided GGG gets by Geale and it's still slim pickings to find an opponent, he might as well leave 160 and go up in weight

                    now for the rest

at one point Chavez jr-Golovkin seemed on for July, but due to promotional issues, the fight was nulled. Arum wanted Chavez Jr to extend his Top Rank contract, and Chavez didn't

**who do you suggest GGG "back his talk up against?" most of the names Golovkin's tried to face have been less than willing

**True Erislandy Lara did call out Golovkin, but what would fighting one of the best at Junior Middle prove?

bold agreed completely, Geale is a legit MW with proven credentials at the weight and by far GGG's best opponent to date

I don't want to see him just go for the easy fight at SMW Chavez jr. If that can't be made he said himself; he's ready for ANYONE at 154-168.

Next has to be either Cotto, Alvarez, Mayweather, Ward, Froch, Groves, Kessler, Bika or Abraham.
any of those would be great for GGG but do you really see Cotto or Mayweather willing to step in versus Golovkin?

Floyd will probably rematch Maidana, Cotto could take on Canelo in December

Ward might still be out due to promotional problems. Groves is coming off a KO loss and prob not worth fighting

and Froch could wind up facing Kessler OR Chavez Jr eliminating yet another fight option

it's not as easy as saying "next has to be" because it takes two to sign a fight contract and right now Golovkin is still too high risk low reward for most big money guys to consider facing. **for example why would Cotto entertain fighting GGG when he can make 10 Million or so in a mega fight vs Canelo

and while either would be a BIG fight .. Canelo-Cotto would generate a bigger fight/payday than if Cotto were to face GGG

**what about the prospects of trying to unify vs Quillin OR Soliman? Soliman seemed pretty willing to face GGG, he's not the best option, but again it's not necessarily about the best more what's available

The worse thing 3G could do is start taking breaks. If he wants to climb the ladder, he needs to continue whupping ass and taking names. We don't need him to become like Quillin who only fights twice a year.

I heard that Soliman is interested in fighting Golovkin, maybe that could happen after GGG/Geale.
