Kessler is a possibility I suppose but that's possibly not a fight which interests K2/Golovkin.
Yeah, 168 also seems backed up for Golovkin. I meant to say a move to 168 and not 160. Golovkin is pretty much stuck and doesn't have many good choices in the 160 and 168 divisions.

Incorrect. Martinez inherited the lineage when he beat Kelly Pavlik.

And he was well within his rights to pick Cotto as a voluntary defense.

Whoever holds that Lineal title, GGG is gonna gun for them so whether its Cotto or Canelo they better be ready.

72% of Argentinians felt he lost. Cotto hasn't even beaten anyone at 160lbs yet, he's not a middleweight let alone the best middleweight.

There are 4 champions in the division, Golovkin has the best record of them at the weight and would be favoured to beat all the other champions, heavily so.

He just has to keep defending at 160. As a fan of his, that's what I want to see him doing. I don't want to see him move to 168 and get wrestled by bigger guys.

You don't have to tell me that, I watched the fight live. If there were one champ, things would be different all around, and Martinez would've had to fight GGG(#1 rated contender by anyone's ratings worth their weight) or even a Quillin, before Cotto(gifted his position due to name value) and he would've clearly lost to both.

There are several belt holders in the division you mean.

But the lineage was established before Golovkin even showed up on the scene. And that lineage doesn't change hands unless the champ dies, retires, or moves to another weight class.

You know that but just refuse to admit it.

Lineal titles hold next to no importance in today's boxing scene, especially when the lineal champ has a promoter saying he'd never put him in against the #1 contender.

Some boxing fans live or die by lineage, I've never been one of them. One fighter can hold onto a lineal title by not facing the best of others for years.

If you do a poll asking who wins between Golovkin and Cotto on here or any boxing forum, you'd probably get an 80-20 or 90-10 response in favour of Golovkin. As far as fans are concerned, he's the #1 MW even if Cotto has the lineal title.

Roy Jones was #1 at LHW, all without holding the WBO AND LINEAL titles which belonged to Dariusz Michalczewski.
