Last time I seen the two together both were respectful of one another but here Calzaghe seems bitter and irrational. Joe's perspective of Groves-Froch is that, you could say it could have gone either way? Froch clearly had all the momentum going for him and cleared things up in the rematch. Froch-Kessler was also close, competitive and Froch again cleared things up in the rematch. I agree, Froch can't say he's the best at '68 but there wasn't anyone close to the level of an Andre Ward when Calzaghe finished off his career. The closest was an old Hopkins and well, we all saw how vulnerable Calzaghe looked.

Calzaghe: "I would have destroyed Froch, there is no comparison"

Yea I am pretty sure Joe is right on this one, I think Calzaghe would spoil the hell out of Froch and then proceed to slap him around with his ***** looking "punches".
Froch can be out boxed and spoiled, he is a very good fighter if he can get his even just a little bit he can break a guy down but I don't think he could do enough to break down Calzaghe.

Did you notice I even left out the year you said the fight was going to get made and Hopkins turned down the garbage offer to fight Joe on Snotime?

It's pretty simple.
Prime Calzaghe would have beat Froch comfortably.
However, Calzaghe wasted his talent fighting basically bums with a few exceptions.
Froch has had a much better career than Calzaghe. There is no doubt he should be looked back on as the greater fighter.

In 2008 Froch lacked the world level experience and Joe would have won.
Prime for prime, it's a much closer fight.
Achievement and resume?
Froch has faced and beaten better competition overall.
If Ward was around when Calzaghe was then Joe wouldn't have been lineal either.Last edited by Grimmer; 06-04-2014, 01:23 PM.

Froch has an amazing resume and better than almost everyone in modern boxing history.
The one thing that will always be against him when it comes to the Calzaghe comparisons is that he had 2 close fights with Kessler. I thought he could have got the decision in the first fight but it was very close and could have gone either way. He won the second one clear but close.
Calzaghe completely outclassed a prime and undefeated Kessler at the peak of his powers to become the undisputed number 1 at Super Middleweight - something Carl has never been able to call himself as yet.

Joe didn't make him an offfer. Snowtime offered the fight to both fighters.
That doesn't mean Joe accepted to come to America to fight. There was no contract signed for nothing. Hopkins rejected an initial offer. Don't you know he was going to get over twice that much to fight Roy Jones at the time?
It would have been ****** to take that fight on showtime. Joe really didn't want it anyways otherwise he would have come over before 2008 when Jones was a ghost and Hopkins MW reign was long over.
