How I saw it both live and on the replays was Groves going down hard, looking like he was "out cold" as though in shock (who wouldn't be) then rushing to get up for the count, only to realize that he played dead so convincingly the ref did assume he was in a Pacquaio-style coma and stopped it.

I do believe Groves could have made the count.
But I also believe he was shaken badly enough that it would have ended Stiverne-Arreola style -- with Groves getting up without his legs only to be knocked down again.

There is really no reason under any circumstances for a ref to jump in and hold a guy down and hug him after counting to 3. I don't care how good the punch looked or how funny Groves looked the way he fell. He was getting up. Rules are rules.

Froch won the fight I'm not discrediting him. I just really dislike attention-whore refs who get all excited when its time for them to do something and create unnecessary doubt/controversy.

Groves was done for, even if he could have stood up and not staggered around like a drunken sailor (which is a pretty big if) was he going to turn that fight around? Things had been going down hill for him for several rounds and his movements had become much less sharp and frequent.

He came on in the same old way and he got beat up in the same old way~

Look it's Groves fault he lost, it was nothing controversial, third time I have repeated that, the loss was not controversial, 4th time, but groves could have gotten up if he had stopped trying to wait for the ref to count, the ref did not count because Groves looked out. But when the ref called it off, Groves reaction led to me believe he wanted to take the entire 8 count laying down, but his plan backfired because he got no count at all.

If that is really hard to understand, then I am done here. It seems like the TKO is black and white to you all.
Um no. If you want to take the entire 8 count, there are more effective ways of doing so. For a start showing some form of consciousness by rolling on to your belly/knees.

He got put down. I doubt he would have made the 10 count, but if he did the only thing in front of him was a beating, a potentially career ending one at that.

It's like people don't realise the protection of human life is important.

He almost got his head knocked off and his leg broken by one punch!

I'm telling you, if that fight continued, Groves would have been in serious trouble. I think the ref stopped it at the perfect moment. Groves would have wanted to continue fighting, even though he was not in a position to.

In a flash one punch KO like that you go into shock momentarily and can't tell up from down. Then you wake up very suddenly.

It wasn't an accumulated barrage of punches over the entire round where the ref could tell he was finished based on his body language.

Reiterating for the 10th time I do believe Froch won the fight and that Groves was probably finished.

I just hate that the ref jumped in and hugged groves without a count. That's very amateur "oh boy I get to do something" reffing.

Foh. We are fans. We just want a count. Nobody wants to see death in the ring. You might doubt he wasn't going to make it to 10, but he was on his way up at 5. Whether he would've been still shaky or not we never got a chance to see that.

This is exactly what I am saying. I mean it's an obvious observation.

No controversy, Groves was hurt bad, but it looked like he wanted some time laying down, something fighters commonly do, and it commonly backfires. He could have gotten up hurt. The shock and surprise in his face when he saw he didn't get the 8 count and instead got a TKO was clear to me that he was trying to lay down for the whole 8-10 count. It 's apparently hard to understand.

You have never experienced being hit like that in the ring so don't assume how one would react, lmao. You'll never know. Ever! Just go on what you saw and comment.

Blood thirsty fans. There are others fans who have enough sense to realise Groves was done. We also did get the chance to see whether he'd still be shaky; after the fight he still couldn't walk properly, even though he had been sat down for several minutes.
