Why risk a fight with Provo and jeopardize a 8 figure payday. You must be ******ed if you think that's a smart move. And I think Provi wanted at 140 for a title Marquez already had. The man is 40 years old and deserves the chance to cash out. Provo isn't with top rank he can chase other fights with top 140 lbers but he rather go after a 40 year old.

It's insane how people claim that Marquez "ducked" Ruslan; the dude is openly on his way out, he's searching for that 147 title--why would he fight a mean, hungry, 140 pounder? Jmm has zero to gain from that fight. Zero. Same with Alvarado. He took the easier fight to position himself into another title bout. This shouldn't be hard to understand. If he was 30, it would be a duck, if Ruslan had a belt it would be a duck. But, it's not the case. Jmm has been pretty candid about the fact that he's sticking around for a title shot. He would be retired now if he Bradley.

And as far as the steroid talk goes-- look at dudes from the tmt camp, pacquiao and fortune, berto, roach on Ariza-- ped's don't equal wins (ask rios) and many more folks are suspect. This is mannboys perpetuating this steroid thing. Honestly, I say let them all fight juiced... Who cares?

And he would Mike. Alvarado strikes me as a really insecure guy. Jmm wouldn't quit on his stool. The all out aggression plays right into Jmm's style. He would run right into massive shots. We forget how Provo was a n FNF who was outboxed by Herrera. Take a look at the Bradley fight. If that's JMM instead of Bradley landing those flush combos Provo is asleep. He's a very tough good pressure fighter but he's there to be ko'd. Pac would ko him too.

Ruslan is one of the many fighters that people grossly overrate. Bradley's tough, but he couldn't close in that fight. And he was defused by Bradley and Herrera--two guys who battered Ruslan and both have zero power.

Alvarado is a good athlete and a tough guy but doesn't have the playbook and know-how to beat a pressure fighter.

Alvarado's "boxing" was basically moving around an immobile Brandon Rios. Ruslan moves slightly better and had more power--so he stopped him.

Frankly, Alvarado's opinion doesn't count for much. He knows about as much as the average poster. Tough guy, good athlete, but certainly has no mind for boxing. I mean, he out-witted rios!

It's called being smart. A area you obviously lack in, I wouldn't expect you to understand. If they put enough money on the table I'm sure they could make that fight.but why fight a more dangerous fight for less money? Explain to me how that makes any sense.

Yea, it's "smart" when it's convenient to you guys. If it was any other fighter, it wouldve been a duck.
