To me his best wins where Jeff lacy and a undefeated Kessler which was a great fight. Him beating Roy and Hopkins was't to impressive and ending ur career after them to wins in my eyes wast good enough he should of stayed at less try making 50 and 0 or at less fought 2 more top elite fighters. But he's is good champion wouldn't say great tho.
Joe Calzaghe: Overrated or underrated?

Top fifty over the past 30 years is an awesome accomplishment, your just hating on calzaghe.,, you do realize a generation is only 25 years, so joe is top 50-longer than a generation, and your really trying to discredit it, like it's not a great feat...
Trust me, if you were a fighter or trainer, you would love to have recognition like that..Comment

On one side of the world, you have people saying Calzaghe ducked RJJ, Toney and B-Hop in their primes but on the other side, it's that Calzaghe never got a chance to fight them because of negotiations falling apart & whatnot. Is Slappy Joe's 46-0 record justified or padded?
Discuss accordingly.
P.S.: He ended up fighting RJJ and Hopkins at the end of his career (as well as dismantling Jeff Lacy & beating Mikkel Kessler), but take that as you will.Comment

How can you say "I'm not going to accept Lacy was a hype job" followed by "he was supposed to he a Tyson clone"
That confirms he was a hype job and he's probably the biggest hype job the sport has ever seen.
Hopkins never fought at Super MW. He has no "reign" there.
And Calzaghes "reign" consists of 2 fighters ranked in the Top 5 at the weight. Impressive!!!
Edged by a passed prime Hopkins. Suppose that's decent. He did what Jermain Taylor did but worse. Awesome.
I meant that Calzaghe's SMW title defense record matched or slightly exceeded BHOP's title defense record at MW. 20 or so defenses if pretty dam impressive, I don't care who you are.Comment

Heading into that fight, the common perception was that Calzaghe would get smoked, not that Lacy wasn't any good or was overrated. This perception of Lacy and his subsequent downfall only occurred after the Calzaghe loss.

You don't care who you are? So Sven Ottke is great aswell? He has the same amount of title defenses as Calzaghe.Comment

Considering boxing as a true organized sport worldwide has been around about 120 years, and you took the top 50 every 30 years, you would have 200 fighters.. If you were doing a top 200 list, calzaghe would be in consideration, lower on the list...

It's not "one of the best" either.
That's if he's even in the Top 50 of the last 30 years which is debatable.Comment
