People focus too much on how much Maidana "missed." Connect percentage doesn't win fights. Carrying the rounds wins fights. Maidana carried more rounds and the rounds Maidana won he won more decisively. Mayweather did nothing to earn any of the first 6 rounds. Hanging on the ropes and pot shotting a few times doesn't win rounds.

Additionally, after reviewing the fight in slow motion, I now realize that compubox numbers are misleading and just false. I counted the punches for round 2. Mayweather didn't even throw the number of punches he was credit with throwing let alone landed the number of punches he was credit with, and Maidana landed more shots than counted. If Maidana hits Mayeather's arms and body..those shots should be counted as landing, shouldn't they?

I had Maidana winning the fight 7-5.

7-5 mayweather or a draw are acceptable scores in my opinion. the judge that scored it 9-3 needs sacking. some of the judging in the last couple of years has been horrendous.

Boxing is annoying as its all subjective.
Maidana won 7-5. He threw more than double punches of Floyd and its a bit of a stretch to say he missed all those punches. Floyd threw less punches by a long way so spent all the fight defending, and you cant win a fight by defending, fights are not won by defending.
All defending does is stop you getting ko'ed which Floyd is good at. It don't win you fights though.
Historically when a fight is close, the judges favour the man who pressured, but FLoyd is given a pass yet again.

you cant complain at people thinking maidana won 7-5. i personally dont agree with that but it was a very close fight, what do you prefer, accuracy and a lesser output, or ring generalship, controlling the pace of the fight and landing more power punches. its subjective. 1 thing for sure is floyd was supposed to deal with maidana easily. and to be quite honest, his p4p number 1 status surely has to be under threat because he hasnt fought any p4p fighters recently, and struggled with a 1 dimensional brawler.
