Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez believes last week's welterweight unification between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Rene Maidana could have been scored a draw or close win, 7 rounds to 5, in favor of Mayweather. Mayweather won a twelve round majority decision. One judge had the fight scored a 114-114 draw, as did several others at ringside. maidana had effective aggression and bullied mayweather each and every round. mayweather's punches didn't make much of a dent. he was effective from midrange but once maidana took that away and pushed him to the ropes, all mayweather could do was cover up. defense alone can't win fights. maidana won this
