Collins won all of his biggest fights, beating Eubank and Benn twice each
No. He beat Benn in 96, when Benn was a shadow of his former self. He also barely beat a moderately past his prime Eubank.

    Furthermore:

    Kalambay W12 Collins
    Johnson MD12 Collins
    McCallum UD12 Collins

Roy smoked Johnson all night. Collins, well...no.

Your comments on Eubank and his "rejuvination" are inconsequential.

Jorge Castro and Sugarboy Malinga were good wins,Malinga probably the best win of his career outside of Toney, then the domination of Toney,1995 had no good win,1996 had no good win,Bernard Hopkins win only looked good 10 years later. Im afraid to say that the list of fighters he didnt fight is hall of fame stuff, and lets not forget that he was never the man at any weight he fought at,never linear.

Nobody had heard of Collins before he fought Eubank.

Those fights with McCallum, Johnson and Kalambay were minor, and he got paid barely anything. His fights against Eubank and Benn were huge by comparison, and he made millions.

True, but the fights were still big just because it was Nigel Benn.

Wrong. Collins had fought on ESPN against guys like Tony Thornton..Fermin Chirino.
The McCallum fight was in between those two.

I, & I'm sure anyone who followed boxing, was aware of who he was.
When did you say you started following boxing ?

Well, he didn't beat Eubank the first time. The second time, yeah your right. But the fights were still big just because it was Chris Eubank.

                Early 1980's.

I was aware of who Collins was, he was in the middleweight top 10.

jabsRstiff, man, when I said nobody had heard of Collins, I didn't mean that literally Nobody had heard of him

Here in Britain though, he was very unknown going into the Eubank fight.

Collins was ROBBED against Reggie Johnson, what fight were you watching?? And Reggie Johnson was a very good fighter back then, and not a very good fighter when he fought Jones (it sounds abit twattish, but it's truth). And the Collins that fought Johnson was in no way, shape or form the same Collins that fought against Eubank and beyond - he tried to box Johnson, he held his hands up, and he never punched to the body. He was a barroom brawler against Eubank and beyond, continuously coming forward with his hands down and throwing body shots. He was like a man possessed against Eubank and beyond, as if he found a new lease of life after being hypnotised.

Steve Collins tried his best to use boxing skill, but came unstuck against fighters like Reg Johnson and Kalumbay because they were simply slicker than he was. He knew he couldnt outslick Eubank,so he just went at him nonstop like a maniac. JuyJuy I wouldnt say Collins was robbed against Reg Johnson,he had no complaints took it like a man even though it was a close fight. I personally scored Collins v Johnson as six rounds each, neither man was all that great on the night. Pretty uneventful fight.

Superlightweight,Collins was competent in the first eight years of his career,a decent boxer. But he dropped everything later on his career, for the last two years of his career he changed his boxing style into a rugged pressure slugger who relied on his own chin and toughness to wear away opponents- that Collins was a world-beater,a marauding warrior.
