    Mayweather-Maidana 2nd watch.......

1st Round: Not a whole lot was done, but Maidana got him on the ropes at least half the round, and landed to the body and a few to the head. Overall, Floyd just lingered on the ropes too much.

    10-9 Maidana

2nd Round: Floyd did a much better job with the right hand, and the counters off the ropes. Maidana did have success in a couple brief stretches on the ropes, but Floyd clinched successfully in this round for the mot part. Too much work in the center of the ring that Floyd did, plus landed some sharp counters to the head and body off the ropes.

    19-19

3rd Round: Close round. Floyd hit him with a few nice combos early, Maidana did well forcing him to the ropes though. Floyd may have lingered too often on the ropes yet again, but still got some of his work in. Close round, I'll give it to Maidana for out working him while both landed some good shots.

    29-28 Maidana

4th Round: Maidana really made Floyd move around this round, and cut the ring well. Trapped him on the ropes several times. Even when the punches weren't all landing on the ropes, he nullified Floyd's return attack pretty well. Mayweather had his moments, landed some nice body shots, but Maidana forcing him to the ropes landing his own body shots and a few head shots won him the round.

    39-37 Maidana

5th Round: Pretty clear Maidana round on 2nd viewing. Mayweather wasn't on the ropes too often, but he simply wasn't busy enough to win the round. He didn't really landed anything of note aside from a few punches, while Maidana was throwing and even landed some right hands from a distance. Mayweather simply didn't do enough to win this round.

    49-46 Maidana

6th Round: Close round the first 1:45, Maidana having some success here and there with Floyd on the ropes, though Mayweather did much better this round landing counters from there, and blocking most all what Maidana did. The last 1:00-1:15 Floyd put on a show. Landed tons of right hands, quick left hooks, etc. Floyd won a competitive round.

    58-56 Maidana

7th Round: Floyd's best round up till this point. Fought most of the round in the center of the ring, landing nearly at will with right hands and/or left hooks. Also, the times Maidana had him on the ropes, he didn't land much. Floyd blocked well, and countered a lot off the ropes with quick left hooks and body shots. Clear Floyd round.

    67-66 Maidana

8th Round: First minute Maidana did well, forcing Floyd to the ropes and not letting him get off, while landing some of his own body shots. The 2nd minute Floyd did better, keeping it in the center, landing his own right hands. The last minute, I felt Maidana did enough, especially landing a couple shots on Floyd with about 30 seconds left and not letting Floyd do much, to win the round.

    77-75 Maidana

9th Round: Mayweather did a good job of keeping the fight center ring, and even backing Maidana up here and there. He landed tons of right hands, as well as his own body shots. Maidana didn't hardly land anything when he had Floyd on the ropes, and landed just a few jabs really. Clear Mayweather round.

    86-85 Maidana

10th Round: Competitive round. Floyd did well early tagging Maidana with more right hands. But Maidana did better in the middle, taking Floyd to the ropes not letting him get off. Floyd sealed it the last minute though, landing some big right hands, and Maidana simply didn't land enough clean stuff.

    95-95 Even

11th Round: Floyd landed nearly all the clean shots the first half of the round. Though Maidana did better the 2nd half of the round, he didn't really landed anything of note aside from some rabbit punches on the ropes. Floyd did land an eye catching right hand to end the round. Maidana simply didn't do enough clean work to negate all the punches Floyd landed the first half of the round. If there was possibly an even round though, it could be this.

    105-104 Mayweather

12th Round: Mayweather once again landed nearly all the clean punches the first half of the round. Maidana did better the next minute, landing some body shots, but Floyd still throwing counters as well. The last 30 seconds Floyd sealed the round with some sharp right hand counters. Floyd won a competitive round.

    115-113 Mayweather

    OVERALL......................

Maidana did tremendous the first 5 rounds. He won 4 of the first 5, and at this point I really thought Floyd was going to lose the fight. Mayweather really only got off more, defended along the ropes well, in the 2nd round, which I felt Floyd won clearly. From round 6 to the end though, Floyd really adjusted like all the greats have to do sometimes, and nullified much of Maidana's attack along the ropes. And he really started tagging him often for the majority of the rounds. Aside from near the end of the 8th round, where Maidana landed some eye catching shots on him, Maidana didn't really land anough clean shots to win any of the rounds. Meanwhile Floyd was landing at will at times in the middle of the ring, defended and nullified Maidana off the ropes, as well as landing his own counters off the ropes.

Mayweather usually figures people out after a couple rounds, it took him longer this time, he didn't really figure out Maidana until the 6th round. But from then on, he dug deep and won the fight. Sometimes the greats get tested, and Maidana did well the first 5 rounds with the Castillo blueprint of not letting Floyd breathe. But Mayweather as usual adjusted well and won the fight, close but clear IMO.

It was a great fight, and Mayweather also disproved any notion that he would crumble if he was ever cut.

Same score for me. Floyd looked every bit of 37 years old, the end is near!

There really are no opponents for September. Either he'll fight PAC Marcos or he'll push his fight back to figh Lara once he beats canelo

That's exactly how Dan Rafael scored it so I trust that's about right. Al Bernstein called it a draw so I would have been okay with that as well.

The 117-111 card couldn't have been right from what I hear.

I don't think Floyd was all that different from 2013 though. I think the difference was he fought someone who didn't let him get off and continued to press the action.

I said when the fight was signed.....IF ANYTHING, Maidana would keep coming and keep coming.....and keep coming. And he did. That was the biggest difference. Floyd was still pretty razor sharp with his counters, and speed. Maidana just did better than most anyone thought because he's actually better than most anyone thought.

Al and Paulie had it 6-5-1 Mayweather

                Farhood had it 7-5 Floyd

Fat Dan had 7-5 Floyd too

I can't find 9 rounds for Floyd, and I think 8 would be a little unfair to Maidana, though if you scored the close rounds for Floyd, I guess you could.

Floyd was really close, but it was fairly clear, it was just super competitive. I would like a rematch if Mayweather-Pacquiao isn't made.

Let Khan fight Brook/Porter, Thurman, Guerrero, etc. Then he can fight Floyd if he wins a fight like that.

seems like a pretty good card to me 11th could have gone either way though which would make the fight a draw. 12th was close too. I think you can make a solid case for a draw or a razor tight win for mayweather ... you could also make a weak but better case for a razor tight win for maidana than the 117-111 card which was ridiculous.

I agree with the original post pretty much

It just took Mayweather a few rounds longer than he usually does to figure out Maidana. If a rematch happens, I really don't see it being as close. Maidana fought well and unsettled Mayweather but he did not win the fight. People are just getting over-excited because Floyd had a competitive fight and are haters of him are so desperate for him to lose that they will claim any competitive fight as a loss.

With that said, Mayweather is starting to look a little older but i still think he beats everyone at 147 still for now.
