However like I said during the fight I felt Floyd would receive the nod because judges tend to play it safe and score the cleanest shots. Most of Maidanas punches were landed while Floyd was trying to tie him up and not as visible/audible. Next time you ask why fighters "refuse to target the body" remember this fight. Judges ignore that in favor of flicking your opponent's head back with relatively harmless 1-2s.

The coward who dictates his fights as though he is the commission, promoter and sanctioning body rolled into one, narrowly survives.

Oh well. I wasn't even planning on watching this fight. Thanks to Maidana for making it far more interesting than the usual Mayweather snoozefest.

    Checking around the net now:
USA Today scored it a draw
    SBNation scored it a draw
What did other play-by-plays score it?
    thanx fer the news...comforting!!lol

      • I had it a draw 114-114.

I had a hard time judging the 10th round, so going into the 11th I was torn between 5-5 even and 6-4 Maidana, so I went with 5-5, giving the 11th to Mayweather, and then the 12th to Maidana.

117-111 was disgraceful. Maidana undoubtedly won the first 4/5 rounds.

        • Well after a fight like that you can be sure the cherry picker is going to go further into his shell and prob retire but if not it's going to be nothing but over matched opponents from here on out

Not sure what fight you were watching on the ropes but it was floyd holding maidana's right arm all night and maidana hitting with his left. Weeks should have let that go as the announcers repeatedly said all night long. As a ref, you shouldn't allow a fighter (mayweather) to take advantage of holding when the aggressor (maidana) had a hand free and was using it.
What about Maidana rabbit punches and 5 low blows? That could of been 2 points taken right there. I'm not sure what fight you were watching because Floyd was clearly landing more punches and getting hit less Maidana was the one holding and tackling Floyd...he lost easy Floyd wasn't even trying hard imo he was never rocked or in any kind of real danger easy win 46-0

OMG at ppl calling it a robbery. I guess Canelo's MD was deservedly accurate then huh?? Floyd DOMINATED Alvarez and they somehow gave him a MD (ppl tend to forget that embarrassing decision). Now this was a true MD whereas the absolute worst case you could call it a draw but the judges scored correctly for the most part. It was a great and entertaining fight, ppl can't say floyd is boring anymore in my book after tonight if he didn't get respect then he never will. I honestly didn't think maidana would've been this beast mode and i knew he was tough but this was insane. give credit where it's due though, floyd got the victory he deserved, cries of robbery are just after emotions of a fight of the year..

              • Madaina missed a lot props to him not gassing out but no need for a rematch Floyd should fight Thurman porter and Garcia in that order

                • ''Floyd was in a close competitive fight? HE LOST!'' that seems to be the rules for him. Pacquiao - Marquez 3 was razor close, but Pacquiao squeezed it through and his fans accepted it. . it's like Floyd is not allowed to be involved in close fights, if he doesn't wash a guy out, people say he lost. I had Floyd winning all along, clean effective punches, laser sharp counters on the ropes, the lead right was landing at ease. Maidana smothered him, as was expected, but it was ineffective aggression. So cry me a damn river, I was cheering for Chino because the guy is humble and likable but Floyd put more rounds in the bank. 116-112 Floyd. Cry me an ocean

But since people will whine for the next year or so, Floyd said he's down for a rematch, and since Khan is taking September off, let's make it happen.

                  Perfect card for September
                  Mayweather vs Maidana II
                  Thurman vs Porter
                  Garcia vs Broner
                  Love vs Rosado II

Khan can take on Matthysse in November or something.

                  • Look at floyd's face and look at maidana's face at the end of the fight!

Maidana is not as popular a fighter and Floyd is known as the technically superior fighter...and there was a huge media bias and Showtime bias for Floyd it was so obvious...but Maidana took his boxing ability to another level..he moved his head and didn't fight flat-footed. He's not the same fighter and he was robbed by two Vegas judges tonight..he should have won and certainly deserved no less than a draw...but to beat Floyd in Vegas you need to knock him out ask Jose Luis Castillo!

LOL I knew the Floyd-worshipers would be out in full effect feeling very defensive tonight almost as defensive as Floyd. So sitting on the ropes for the first 6 rounds and in the 8th round wins you the fight lol?

Chino made Floyd miss a lot which was funny with his head movement lol. I had Maidana winning 7-5, and the rounds Maidana won were by a big margin. Floyd won closer rounds but that's the fallacy of the 10-9 system.

                    • Streamed the fight and I thought it was deserving of a draw. There were some rounds where Maidana allowed Mayweather to steal the round in the last few seconds by getting tagged with a good punch or two right before the bell.
Maybe my opinion changes when I watch the replay on TV. However, Pacman beats this version of Mayweather and I think Mayweather avoids that fight even more so now.
