Originally posted by dinoive said it before..along with duran and tyson..chavez is the most overrated fighter in the history of boxing..he was slow and easy to hit..he blew up his record in MEXICO fighting nobodies..everytime he got in with a good fighter he lost or struggled..whitaker de la hoya..ill give u tszyu because he was older..
and who thee hell is too say chavez is stronger then castillo?
and for the ppl saying it would be similar to taylor chavez..go watch the fight again..chavez was losing and got a lucky knockout in the last round
That is not what happened... wake up ... he was loosing a COMPETITIVE fight among greats... it may not have been the result u wanted, but the fact is he messed taylor up, he grinded him down, and when he had his chance he struck and taylor went down.
Forever changing a person through giving them a beating is anything but lucky, and changing a great fighter, is anything but overrated.

yeah there is no way that could be coined a "Lucky" punch. It was more like a series of excellent punches.

Due to the relentless style of Chavez, Chavez will make PBF run and fight backwards the entire fight. Sure JCC will get hit tons, but JCC is naturally stronger than Mayweather. Mayweather's defence may be difficult to surpass, but JCC was relentless in his arsenal, throwing carefully placed punches that surgically destroyed the opposing fighter's game plan. If the fight goes to the cards, its PBF, but it has a very good chance of ending in a TKO for JCC. Remember that we only saw PBF at 140 for 1 fight, and at 147 for one fight (which to me he looked flat footed and slugish which does not compliment his style), JCC had many fights at 140 and 147 in which he looked impressive.
Seldom was any fighter able to back up the relentless JCC. A fighter that lacks power is even less likely to back up a JCC, PBF is not that powerfull(especially at 147).
One thing that I would like to point out is that PBF is very smart and may not fall into the JCC gameplan. Although almost all of JCC'c opponents seemed to feel obligated to fight JCC's fight, Mayweather may not do this. If he can tag and run all night, PBF can take the UD. But Camacho was one of the smartest fighters that fought JCC. He was fast and slick as hell. He stated that he was going to beat JCC with speed, this he was not able to do after the 4th round, and he was beaten badly.

Originally posted by morancitoFor those of you recalling the Chavez - Sweet Pea fight, you have to remember that Chavez was past his absolute prime, and fighting in a weight that was two classes above his prime weight (135)
I don't want to say Chavez would beat Pernell at lightweight because he got schooled so bad when they met, but it's a possibility, I think. It definately would have been a whole different story had they met some 4 years before and at 135 or even 140
Whitaker easily beat Chavez & got robbed. Mayweather will beat Chavez even worst, because Mayweather hits much harder then Whitaker.

Meldrick Taylor wasn't in Floyd Mayweather's class. Mayweather is as complete a fighter as there ever was minus the brittle hands. He has Bernard Hopkins in-ring focus and generalmanship plus Sugar Ray Leonard's physical makeup. Few know, but he can take a punch pretty well too.
The best way I can think of to beat Mayweather is to put it in contract to make him wear Reyes gloves instead of Winning gloves, offer your chin in the early rounds and hope he shatters his knuckles before he shatters your chin. (joking)
But still, JCC is a legend. Chin of granite plus excellent technical skills and thudding power. Man, where's that time machine where you need it?
Mayweather by late round KO.

Don't listen to all these idiots hating on CHAVEZ. Chavez is a legend and nobody can take that away from him. He's recognized world wide.
Chavez at his prime would make Floyd quit on the stool just the way Chavez made Floyd's uncle Roger quit.
