Definately disagree. Sweet Pea was very crafty but Mayweather has all those moves with more snap. Intangibles? This kid has been fighting since birth has nothing but intangibles and Whitaker as crafty as he was....he couldn't fight in close like Mayweather can and was nowhere near the body puncher Floyd is. If Pea were fighting against corrales for example, he would beat him no doubt, but he wouldn't have broken him down the way Floyd did. This guy is a complete fighter...more complete than even Whitaker...and if you want to know how hard Pea hit, just check his knockout percentage.

Chavez did have some big wins, but it is a fact that he built that incredible winning streak fighting Tijuana taxi cab drivers. He should've fought the elite earlier in his career, instead of fighting bums, and he would've fared better against the elite.

It's an entirely debatable subject, and points well taken, but I just haven't seen Mayweather on Pernells level yet.

I agree with you that Mayweather is a more complete puncher more consistenly, but it seemed like you were trying to make Floyd out to be some big hitter in contrast with Pea.

I wasn't trying to make it sound like Pernell was a big puncher, but he did have power...he just didn't usually sit down on his punches. He showed flashes of power early in his career...he knocked out what...13 of his first 24 opponents or something like that. He knocked Juan Nazario, a lightweight who had gone 16 rounds with Edwin Rosario clean out with 1 punch in a unified title fight. He came out and absolutely blitzed Hurtado, a natural welterweight in their championship bout. He dropped De La Hoya, etc etc...not a big puncher by any means, but showed he had some power occasionally.

As for the other things, I have to disagree on Mayweather being as crafty as Whitaker, but there isn't much of a way to measure that.
