It was a close fight, and those who say Mayweather no doubt lost the first fight are being silly. It was a close bout and I think many get carried away here because no one had really heard of Castillo before and did better than expected.

we call that the Roy Jones syndrome, where you'd give a fighter a round just because he wasn't outclassed as bad as the previous round.
I don't think it was injury-I think it was the weight. If you look back at floyd's career his 1st fight in a weight class has always been difficult. Not only is he figuring the opponent out,his body is reacting to a heavier frame leaning against it and recieving heavier blows, especially if the new weight class has heavier gloves.

Mayweather won the first 5 rounds, Castillo won the last 7 rounds. A different judge could have swung around a different way thus changing the outcome. It was a draw at worst. Castillo Outlanded Floyd in total punches and lost by 4 rounds on one judges score-card. Fishy much?

Nice to see what was once a decent conversation turn into yet another thread of idiocy riddled with posts about Pacquiao and Marquez, who had **** all to do with Mayweather/Castillo 1.

        Bravo, guys.

They did the same to Floyd in the Baldomir fight, prior to round one it was "Baldomir is the toughest guy Floyd has faced" then after round twelve he was a bum and Floyd cherry picked him. The HBO crew have also ruined a lot of Hopkins' fights, they don't know how to appreciate the science of the sport.
i agree with the part about larry merchant ruining some hopkins fights

Just because people were not used to seeing him in a competitive fight doesn't mean he lost, give me a break. Same thing happened with Cotto, Floyd beat him easy but because his nose was bleeding they say it was a tough fight. No damn controversy, Floyd won BOTH fights. And Garcia is a damn fool if he's planning on using some imaginary ''blueprint'' from 2002 when Floyd is 20X better and sharper.
Well thats it folks, no more controversy. kingfaze19 has officially cleared things up.

He said around the 2nd round his shoulder was messing up, obviously, Castillo being as good as he is and having a 10 + lb weight advantage couldn't have helped Mayweather either.

I don't think Maidana will have success if he tries to fight like Castillo. Floyd has improved a lot since then imo.

Yeah I know- I just think it was more about those things. Maybe I'm disregarding the shoulder too much.

Probably. He used it wonderfully in the rematch.

Thats like giving a guy getting shut out in fight a round here and ther for performing better than he had in other rounds but still not doing enough to win the rounds. That just doesnt cut it in my book. Castillo fought his heart out in the last half of that fight but in my honest oppinion the right fighter got his hand raised that night and its not even debatable and never was.
In your opinion, and is repectable, but in my and in most people's minds the truth ramains, Castillo "BEAT" floyd 7-5 I 've seen that fight countless times and I still have castillo winning that fight, nobody hit Mayweather so often in the face and stomack like Castillo did, he punish him and pound on him like no one else did or ever will.

What gets me is that the judges had the second fight closer than the first one, 115-113 how in the hells bells that happened?
