First fight was super close. I edged Castillo, but I have no problem with anybody who scored it for Floyd. Boxing fans have always exaggerated when discussing close fights and Mayweather/Castillo 1 is a prime example of that.

Pro tip : Anytime you hear a boxing fan use the word "robbery"...dismiss it.

Regarding the other comments about the rematch - So ****ing what? I'm so sick of fighters in close fights (or fans of those guys, for that matter) who won the rematch more convincingly than the first one acting like the result of the rematch somehow erases the result of the first fight.

    Spoiler alert : It doesn't.

I think Harold Lettermen scored it 117-111 Castillo at ringside for HBO.
I thought Castillo won 7-5 but a draw would have been a good score as well.
If Castillo wins that fight, Floyd's whole career is different. He fights Manny for sure, maybe Williams,Margarito,Martinez etc... No trying to keep that zero in tact and ducking the toughest guys with a BS retirement.

I'm more irritated at this point by the people who think Mayweather dominated the rematch than I am by arguments about the first fight. The rematch was a competitive fight as well, Castillo just didn't have an argument to win like he did the first time.

          Yup.

Just like Leonard/Duran II where, according to most boxing fans, Leonard "humiliated" Duran prior to Roberto quitting.

          Only not.

Can't fight someone when his own team said he(manny) refused to accept the Floyd fight

You can tell he knows he really lost the first fight. Thats why the rematch happened. I commend floyd for giving an immediate rematch but it was a dead giveaway that even he thinks he lost. I think castillo won 3 of the first 6 and 5 of the last 6 round. Hey floyd, you dont win fights when your opponent out throws, lands 100 more power shots and at a higher %

The popular take on both the Duran-Leonard fights is idiotic. Leonard only lost the first fight because he went toe-to-toe with the 'crude brawler' Duran. In the second fight, his pure artistry won out, with his marginal lead on the scorecards reflecting his overwhelming dominance.

You'd think people would understand that there's a reason No Mas is so strange and so unforgivable to fans, and it's not because Leonard was dominating. It's because the fight was very much up in the air and people can't understand why Duran could have possibly quit under those circumstance. If he was getting dominated no one would wonder why he quit.

Floyd definitely lost in my opinion, but I don't think people would talk about it so much if both he and his fans didn't hype up his '0' so much. Castillo was a good fighter and it was a close, tactical fight. One of my favourite Floyd fights to watch alongside the Cotto fight. Far more interesting to watch a defensive fighter when they're really challenged than when they're dominating an opponent.
