You can outbox Molina all day. But if you come to him you play into his strength which allowed for a fun fight.
DeMarco came to him, hurt him, swarmed him and stopped him in one round. Despite the stoppage being a bit weird, with Molina being perfectly fine, never going down and crouching down with his gloves blocking every punch DeMarco threw in the corner. The point is the fight was there to be made because DeMarco did come to a stunned Molina and was right in front of him and Molina threw back but missed.

Probably had a bit of ring rust but full credit to Molina I say. The way he took those shots shows the move up in weight helped him.
Usually the heavier you are the more punishment you can absorb.

He has always had massive power, go look at his record! Off the top of my head he has like 22 K.Os in 27 wins about 16 in a round and wins over Bey, Lundy & the likes. John Molina has serious power

Its not like his skills kept in the fight or anything just sheer heart & firepower.

Contrary to believe Lucas isn't actually a machine!

Too answer the question I don't think he is washed up, no.
I just feel Molina was tougher than expected and he deserves full credit for that.

I have a good feeling Molina could do surprisingly well at 140 especially with a lot of the top guys having no defense.
If Molina can hit you he can hurt you

For me that's like the Ishida fight. A bit of a fluke. I bet it doesn't go that way in a rematch.

He's just a prime example of a bunch of forum nerds who were trying to look like cool hipsters by making this guy out to be some sort of unstoppable machine, even though he'd at the time already been figured out by a shot Zab Judah and Alexander.

No hate towards Matthysse, the guy is a warrior and i love watching his fights. Total respect from me. However he's a great example of when trying to look cool on the internet goes wrong.

As will the next ones whoever they turn out to be, the likes of Thurman/GGG etc.

When they lose/get exposed their bunch of cool hipster fanboys who are right now proclaiming them to be the new invincible KO machines will run along onto the next one.
Neither of those guys figured out Mathysse. Devon got his ass handed to him and was a highway robbery. The Judah fight was much closer but the Devon fight was just ****in bull****.

Yea. There's a reason why he wanted to retire a while back. Danny took his soul

Does John Molina's performance against Matt shine light on Mickey Bey at all?

He is not washed up, what is it with "fans" these days calling fighters washed up or overhyped the moment they lose or are in a tough scrap.

Lucas is now what he has always been, a good scrapper, a cultured beast as I called him some years ago. Furious power but not always furious in the ring, he likes to work off a jab and lack of activity from his opponents but whenever a fighter decides to box him, fight him at range and use the right hand, Lucas struggles.

Watch his two very very close fights against Judah and Alexander and then go back and watch what Molina did. He used range very well in the early rounds to take Lucas off his game and he then supplemented it with Gracia's tactic of a looping, crouched right hand, thrown at the same time as Lucas' own left hook.

Simple tactics, used against Lucas times before. But when Lucas connects and if your resistance or chin aren't good enough, he gets you out of there but there has always been the vulnerability to the right hand, range finding jabs and work rate.

No he's not washed up. He started wrong against a big puncher in Molina, who I think can hurt anybody in the 140 division. But from about the 3rd round on Lucas controlled the fight. It wasnt as tough as people are making it out to be, Molina is just tough as hell.
